Quote from: bannside on February 04, 2024, 08:34:31 PMI would have taken your arm off for a one point victory before the game. Wasn't pretty, but with backs to the wall we managed to hang in and come out with 2 points. Seen those points dropped many times, well done to Andy and lads for digging in and grabbing both points.

Agreed

Delighted.

Rise above, or throw your toys out of the pram?

No winners

Damaging result today for ladies team; Louth would have been targeted for a win. If M'Glass really are boycotting, well that's a shame and should be reversed.

Gutting. We could've done a Meath

Need all on board

Prenter a catastrophic loss

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on November 27, 2023, 10:24:08 PMOh I'm so glad I played in the times I played...

That said as I got older I remember chasing a league title and I got wind of lads that were still well oiled, we lost by a point and needed to win another game for the title, I let rip in changing rooms, they give me the collective "aye dead on" of course who am I to give off about being worse for wear the next day.

Championship was/is and I'd say for every club different. Wouldn't be too many that would let themselves down in prep for that game!

Happened to many of us. I remember being fit as f**k, ridiculously so in school. Playing Senior from 16. Could swing off a 10 foot Basketball rim and field ball from the skies.

Hit university at 18 and hit the drink and pizza hard. Dont think i was ever injured before it, by the end of 1st year i gained a stone (not of muscle) and was heading South. End of 2nd year i'd gained another stone and remember i nearly couldnt start (shouldnt have) on club U21 team.
Many others (who i would have seen as poor footballers((basically just handpassers like all players are now)) were getting stronger in Gyms etc and leaving me in their dust.

Aged 21 i couldnt touch the bottom of the Basketball net (which is 9 foot high).

Further i got away from it the worse i got. Nearly all comebacks ruined by injuries given carrying extra weight.
Fast forward to my 30s and i was eating healthier and trying to do my best (but the injuries i'd sustained as a result of the above never let me be my best again) and like you i was then the one giving out to kids for doing what i did (actually nearly not as bad as i did).

Circle of life and without proper guidance or support/family etc easy to go that way.

Balance to it is the key. I couldnt handle find it!

Quote from: tbrick18 on November 27, 2023, 10:21:34 AMUnfortunately I didnt get to see the Trillick v Scotstown match but by all accounts it was a very good game.
I had a feeling Trillick would win it and had the potential to win Ulster under the radar, but not to be.

Glen probably deserved to win the first SF, that point at the end to win it was worth it alone.
I still think they are not playing as well as last year, but perhaps that will come yet. Glass has been underwhelming, but that's not to say he's playing badly, just doesn't seem to be hitting the same highs as last year.
I dont think that was a penalty tbh, and had it not been given Glen probably ran out comfortable enough winners. Hurson had a reasonably good game, though I though he was a little harsh on Glen in general, but for me he got the penalty wrong.

Glen and Scotstown will be an interesting game. Glen perhaps slight favourites, but not much between them. Scotstown keeper play could be the difference in the two teams.
Wattys may be pacing themselves. It's tournament football. They want to be ready for the final. They know how it works.

Precisely.

Although if the Glenties man held that last kick out and didnt cough it up to Glass (and then the winning point went over 5 secs later) it could be they in the final, not Glen.

Glen 'could' say get a few goals, get a run on Scotstown and win by 10. We'd all then be saying how they'd done well managing the earlier rounds and timed their peak at the right time. Scotstown could also get a run on Glen. It's Sport and over analysed. I remember a line ball in a game given the wrong way in a semi final that changed the game. There's so little in it.

In saying all that though Kilmacud are simply the team to beat. With the refs giving them penalties for fouls well outside the box when things get tight i Cant see them being stopped unless by a lucky drop in mad goal again or something like a few years ago

Never, ever, ever trust an insurance company.
Trust me I speak from bitter experience.

I'm sure Maddog appreciates the advice. Sitting as he has before his screen waiting on your reply, with baited breath, for just 15 years.

It was a forwards tackle/shoulder....you lift the arm up after to try and stop the player, it isn't dirty but in real time it looks like it is

Today's games went as I expected unfortunately.

Quote from: Rossfan on November 11, 2023, 12:04:55 PMDoes a Barrister have to wait for a Solicitor to approach them?

Yes. Client/defendant contacts a Solicitor (you can't as a defendant phone a Barrister directly).

Solicitor then 'briefs' a barrister to conduct the case in Court. In the Crown (in the North) or Circuit Court (in the South) only a Barrister runs the case in Court (has Rights of Audience/is permitted to speak)

Solicitor has to deal with the thousands of phone calls and torturing from whingy, self pitying, remorseless clients who on the whole don't give a flying fu k about what they did, who they hurt, etc etc. That's the nature of drug addiction, mental health, psychosis,  sociopaths etc. Lawyers represent them and advise them of the evidence in a case. Its up to the punter whether to take that advice or not.

I'm sure this Roma wouldve been advised he was fucked (had no prospect of being acquitted) and should plead (as he would have got a lesser tariff). But clients often ignore legal advice. In that case a Defence Team will have to 'test' the evidence and see if there's reasonable doubt. In this case though they'd know their client was being convicted all day long. Despite that theyve a duty to do their best in a caae to discharge their duty to their client.

Same legal aid fee win or lose too

Good luck to Cargin on Sunday

Last year they they played v defensively, literally not shooting once from play in the 1st half, but got close without ever looking like having a chance to win.

Bit like Donegal in 2011 who then tweeked to a bit more attacking in 2012 and we know what happened.

All out attacking and you might get humped like Derrygonnelly v Kilcoo there

It's a f**king tough one going up against Glen...I can't work out what to do to win it so good luck to RD!....but i would love to see a shock and a Saffron victory

As for Glenravel I wish them well but with Skinner etc I fear it could be a wipeout

Plenty talented players on show tonight, Cargin took their chances, had more accuracy with their attacks and the goals came at the right time in the game..
Decent game, Cargin had 2-3 classy forwards that St Brigids didn't have and that was the difference. Downey at 11 had a good start, him going off was a big loss to St B's.
As a fellow club member tweeted earlier its a nice way for us to end our 100th year in Antrim football, Senior champions, Reserve champions and U19 champions.

Maith sibh 👏

Great club made up of fantastic people, well deserved

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on October 12, 2023, 01:18:12 PMThere seems to be a hard done by approach here from some

Not sure how that has come about, or looking to get credit for beating a Div 3 team in the final. ;)

Facts of the matter is this Cargin are the only show in town, that's been evident from getting that lucky goal against us  ;D , I jest...

The attitude from the players from my perspective is top drawer, haven't seen that matched this year or last few any time I've been involved in their games.

Think Mick was talking about disrespect or lack of, after the final, not sure who that's was directed too, not many would, with all seriousness, say they haven't been the top team, so not sure whos disrespecting them.

So this will be 7 runs at Ulster championship, big win last year and now another go at the Derry champions..
Seasoned campaigners in Ulster

I hope Cargin represent us well and win Ulster.

Appreciate its a different level and not easy, especially when sleep walking through Antrim and then met with hard, flying runners, tacklers etc.

The chip on the shoulder thing is mad though. Cargin clearly the best in Antrim and I gave Dunloy no chance, being slated for saying I hoped they at least had a go.

Glenties game was genuinely lucky for Cargin last year, Glenties could have been out of sight but Cargin hung in and got level by hoofing in high balls that 9 times out of 10 don't result in a goal.

I was disappointed they then played within themselves and tried not to get hammered by Glen. They literally didn't have a shot from play in the first half.
Galls used to play on their own terms and beat many teams in Ulster playing that way

I appreciate going toe to toe may have resulted in a hammering so damned if they did etc

But I'd leave the chip on the shoulder shite to Tyrone people (who you always get a rise out of!)and answer any critics on the field in Ulster.

Cargin the best by far from here and I genuinely hope they push on this year...though Glen or Slaughtneil are admittedly the toughest draw bar Kilcoo.

A quality team but won't get the kudos Galls got till push on in Ulster. I hope you do.

3 beaches along the front of the town, La Concha being the most famous. All class and La Perla Spa on the Promenade is worth a visit. We were in it for a few hours and had access to the beach and sea from it.

The town is easy to navigate by foot and the Old Town has cobbled streets full of wee bars and Pintxos...these tapas are to die for. You could Literally get lost in the old towns wee streets, heaven.

No English tourists and such a safe spot, not like say Barcelona or Milan where there's pickpockets watching your every move

Santa Clara island in the bay is worth a trip by boat and walk. Great walk of the 3 beadhes too

Weather was hit and miss...had 2 scorching days and the other 5 it bucketed on and off but we'd the right gear and umbrellas etc so were grand. Literally can teem down for 15 mins then be grand for a few hours.
