GAA Discussion / Re: Tyrone v Offaly

Tyrone to win this easily.

A few people expecting Offaly to push them all the way and I might agree were it not for a couple of reasons.  Anton Sullivan is out for the year with a shoulder injury. Brian Connor has gone to America for the summer.  In my mind, that's two of our top three players gone. There are other panel members gone to america but their loss wouldn't be felt as strongly.

I know Tyrone have their own problems but they have a stronger squad than Offaly and are better equipped to handle such losses. The Offaly lads will give it a good rattle but I'd expect Tyrone to take it by around 8-10 points.

Offaly vs Ros was absolutely painful viewing, standard was atrocious.

We'd lost 4/7 of our first choice forwards in this match alone, nevermind the fact half of last year's starting forwards weren't even available going in. We played to our strengths. Offaly kicked too much aimless ball and bad shots that we never really needed to open up because we were dealing with Offaly's own version of the Donegal defensive system more than well enough to win. Whatever about standards, we've eiked out two big wins to start a campaign where we've been missing over half of our starters. I'm plenty impressed by our team's spirit and standard overall this year.

I don't know if you're blind or biased but if there was anyone employing a defensive system it was Roscommon, they were the ones who brought men back. The Rossies behind me were bemoaning it for the entire second half or at least the last 15 minutes. You had about 12 men in your own half, and Offaly were just so awful that they never looked like doing anything.

My full support goes out to him . On his day easily the best forward in the country!

He's going through a tough time and good luck to him getting over it.

Best forward in the Country?? He's not in the top 10!

Lazy statement from someone who's probably never even seen him play. Easily one of the 10 best in the country when on form. Has almost single-handedly played Offaly's opponent every game in the last few years. Ask Monaghan, Down, Wexford fans... they've had experience against him at O'Connor Park in recent years....

Just checked it there for the first time in several weeks and I would like to apologise to the person whose trade proposal has gone completely ignored  :D . As for the standings, God I knew it would be bad when I missed the draft and lost interest as a result... but jaysus, not that bad!

I'm some tool, just presumed the 'C' championship draft would be the third and final one, went online last night only to see it had already been done  :-[

Typical Walsh. Great player though.

Perhaps, it should be a positive thing, but it does make for a strange atmosphere on the thread.

Thank God TOL isn't going. Sexton at 12 with O'Gara at outhalf is something which should be tried out at some stage of the England match imo.

Strange example of this on the uibhfhaili website today, player in question created a profile to defend himself, very unusual.

Mayo can hold their heads up this time. They gave it everything and every man competed right to the whistle.

They Still lost by 9 points, patronising stuff to appreciate a team staying to that score.

What should we say? That the useless Mayo cnuts should be ashamed? Jaysus you can't win.
