Disappointing to say the least. conceding four goals at home to shite like Newcastle doesn't augur well for the future.

I am not on a wind up. I am smply asking the question. Why are Brit Nazis and local Nazis attracted to Linfield FC?
#11388
Lads, I wouldn't get to pessimistic just yet. I can see a 2003 scenario in reverse here, where the huns have too many games and lose the league on the last day. Obviously it is incumbent upon Celtic to collect maximum points from their remaining fixtures. If they do pull it out of the fire WGS will enter the legends section in paradise

Will someone answer me as to why Brit Nazis as well as local loyalists are attracted to Linfield/IFA? Surely there can be no other reason than the ultra loyalist background and history of this club, which is inextricably linked with the IFA and has been sponsored for decades  by the same IFA? Also are Linfield Fans not also North of Ireland and Rangers fans naturally as well?

Also it is not so long ago that any Linfield sc**bag would never have ventured near King Street, as they would have known well what would have become of them. The peace process has its drawbacks as well >:(

A couple of points.

Lets here no more nauseating crap (not to mention annual awards ceremonies) about how "we" have dealt with sectarianism at Windsor Park, "we" are the best supporters in the world etc.

Also I still say that Linfield (who only last week announced that they would have no part in an All Ireland league) and the IFA must do a hell of a lot more to make themselves less of a magnet for loyalist extremists by removing the symbols and loyalist baggage from their events.

I still also say that teams like Donegal Celtic (who the IFA tried hard to keep out of the Irish League) and Cliftonville would be much better off in the Eircom League (just imagine the crowds on a Sunday afternoon in West or North Belfast for Cliftonville V Shamrock Rovers or Celtic V Bohemians). Look what this has done for Derry City. There will never be a level playing pitch in the Irish League, if you'll pardon the pun. Linfield have always and will continue to rule the roost

GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh Vs Dorty Dubs

A complete and utter joke. I paid £22 for myself and my wife and arrived in good time to get a seat.Lo and behold the match was called off (I later heard there was a ladies game played on the pitch yesterday morning) and no refunds. >:( I won't be able to make the refixture as I will be at Liverpool Airport waiting for a flight home. Ironically those who came early yesterday were penalised. Felt really sorry for Dubs fans yesterday, though by the looks of things the Cross Social Club bar was doing a roaring trade.

FFS there should be a pitch inspection prior to opening the gates to the paying public and if there is even a reasonable doubt, the game should be postponed.

Also instead of paying managers huge "expenses", players grants etc, jetting off to Spain for training camps, County Boards should be investing money in County pitches, ensuring that they have drainage facilities that are capable of withstanding a heavy shower or two.

The GAA is lucky they have such tolerant followers. Anywhere else yesterday where people paid good money and then were told that they show was off and there were no refunds , and a riot would have ensued. Is there any other sport which treats its fans and paying public with such contempt, and gets away with it.

Stew,

Why do Linfield/IFA attract Loyalist extremists, Combat 18 etc? It is because they are perceived as a loyalist club due to their historical hostility towards catholics, not signing catholics etc. The IFA has tolerated this for decades and still refuses to shed its unionist/loyalist baggage therefore in my opinion it is very much responsible for the events on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see if any sanctions are imposed by the IFA on Linfield. I wont be holding my breath anyway.

The solution is of course for the likes of Cliftonville, Donegal Celtic etc to follow the example of Derry City and join the Eircom League. Look how successful this has proved for Derry.

At the end of the day, Belfast Celtic and Derry City were forced out of the Irish League due to the fact that they constituted a threat of Linfield's dominance. This is waht is currently happening to Cliftonville.

The IFA are certainly not without blame in this scenario. For decades the tolerated their favourite club, Linfield's no catholics policy and still refuse to abandon the unionist trappings that attracts scumbags. Also our esteemed Sports Minister is strangely silent on this matter, yet The  never misses an opportunity to have a go at the GAA

There was also a 6-1 FA Cup replay defeat in 1999/2000, after we had slaughtered them at the Lane in the first match but only drew. Must be the only time a George Graham team conceded 6 goals ;D

Mutley, its the so called fans of the North of Ireland (aka OWC) who are most vociferous in their claims to be in favour of Football for All and non sectarian. What Feeney was merely doing is asking the simple question, how, by calling your website "Our Wee Country" can you aspire to attract nationalist support for your team?

On a related topic, a protestant work colleague of my wife was at Windsor Park on Wednesday night last, and he assured her that sectarian chanting is alive and kicking, if you'll pardon the pun, in many sections of the stadium. As I've said before the best way to defeat sectarianism at Windsor Park is to divest the stadium and team of its unionist/loyalist baggage (eg call the website something other than "Our Wee Country", dispense with the bastardised Ulster Flag and English National anthem etc) That way the team will cease to be a talismanic symbol of unionism

It sounded distinctly like booing to me.

Keeping Berbatov is absolutely vital. I had an opportunity to watch at close hand his contribution last Saturday and the guy is amazing. Had a perfectly good goal disallowed and his first touch is superb. What puzzled me last Saturday was the abuse meted out to Malbranque, which started when his name was read out on the team sheet and continued with every touch of the ball. Sure he's not the best player ever to wear a Spurs jersey and he was diabolical against Seville last year, but whats the point in the constant abuse?

Also, Lennon has gone off the boil big time. His crossing last week was atrocious. Undoubtedly Woodgate has been  a good acquisition, and the improvement in Dawson's confidence was noticeable as well. Can't see much of a future for Kaboul.

Another thing which struck me last week was  the conditioning of the players. I have never seen a fitter more physically hones Spurs team. Zokora looks like a collossus.

We owe the Toon a good hiding as we've been on the wrong end of a few heavy defeates from the quarter since the mid 90s. With the pressure off I expect Spurs to collect three more points and plunge the magpies into further relegation trouble.

Analogy correct, though I'm very much the Roger Federer and Sammy the Tim Henman, a perennial "British"loser who doesn't know when to give up ;D

I wouldn't have been at the AI Final in 2002 only for Bud, so I remain forever in his debt and its a debt I will never be able to fully repay. He even taught me how to get into the Premium Section at Croker using out of date tickets!

Continued good health to you Bud and I hope you will return again.

In his column yesterday, in which he rightly blames unionists and the DUP in particular for poor relations between North and South and indeed East and West, Feeney makes specific mention of unionists referring to this place as "Our wee Country, the name of the website set up by fans of the IFA team , as if this will attract nationalist support for the team"

Well said that man. Once again the farce of fotball for all is exposed. ;)
