People just have to remember why prices are so high in the south, people demanded high wages, higher rents, higher standard of living - we cannot blame business on everything.

All started by effin greedy FFBuilders rising house prices. This led to bigger mortgages and people needing higher wages to pay them and the cycle started.
Business certainly has to take a large share of the blame as they hiked profit margins to ridiculous levels and were encouraged to keep it up by the Harney/McCreevy greed is good right wing ideological ethos  that prevailed.

Deel -- how much Revenue will be  lost to the Irish Govt by you and others going to the 6 NE Counties to buy things.?
Next time you are complaining about cutbacks in Castlebar hospital or the state of your local school .......just think of the Revenue gone to HM Treasury in London that could have been used to solve the problem. ;)

English farmers can prodcue the meat cheaper than Irish farmers and I want to know why because someone is taking the piss somewhere in the chain and I dont see why they should be propped up.

The "Farm gate price" is the least of the reasons Irish food is dear ...it's all the middle men involved.
As for English farmers -- their farms are large ranches and their countryside is almost totally deserted. They probably have twice the land area as the 26 Cos but about thalf the number of farmers so it's simply extensive farming needing smaller margins.

[the erronerous assumption that a British nation exists, culturally anyway. 'UKanian' nationalists is probably a better term anyway.

How about YUKISH ?  ;D

But the Rossie builders .... built it in the wrong Ballintubber - they went to the one in Ros.
So O'Connor had one built 4 times bigger in the real Ballintubber.  ;D

By the way a great post by Weareros . Good to have another member of the master race on board. :D

I would have no doubt whatsoever that if Ronan O'Gara had contrived to make a political statement by disrespecting the Queen in any way, the IRFU would not have hesitated in taking action.
Personally, I think the matter of him being photographed with his hands in his pockets shouldn't cause anyone to read too much into the fact. If he really wanted to drive home a political point, he could have boycotted the meeting.

If an Irishman wants to go about in his own Country with his hands in his pockets that's his right as an Irish Citizen  no matter what foreign Head of State might be passing through the room.

And dont forget all those well heeled Irish  who dont pay tax because "they live in other countries" yet their ugly effin mugs appear in the Irish papers every other day.
Nobody is lecturing them cnuts about patriotic duty nor were there any calls on the fat businerss cats to reduce profit margins as we began to price ourselves off the world markets. But now we're telling the minimum wages people they are getting too much !!!!

My household would love to shop all the time in the nearest village shop but it just cant compare value wise with the big stores but we always pick Dunnes rather than Tesco. Also do a bit in Aldi/Lidl for certain items .........of course they are German so  they have to be good. ;D

I've always marvelled at how on the drive from Dublin to Castlebar the only bad road you hit is the part of the N5 that goes through Roscommon (Tarmonnbarry to Strokestown excepted). While everyone else is trying to get with the 21st century programme, the Rossies are still happy with cattle tracks for roads. Raize the county to the ground, we might get to Dublin in a half decent time then :P.

The N5 is a National Road and comes under the authority of the NRA so Ros Co Council have no say in it.
Mind you if it stopped ye hoors driving through and defiling our County it might be worth asking the NRA not to improve it. :D

I wonder where son of Sam saw those "walled fertile grasslands" ? It certainly wasnt in the snipe grassed county of Mayo anyway ;)

[The policy is there to be seen from the IRFU and it was all to do with the sensitivities of those from the Republic when having to consider playing the host-state anthem in Northern Ireland.

Ireland's call was on the go for many years before there was a rugby international played in Belfast.
It was introduced to take into account the sensivities of some people from NEIreland who didnt like standing to attention for A na bhF when outside the 26 Cos.
The Belfast "foreign international" sensivities only arose some years later.

Amazing ...if you disagree with Roger its "moronic nonsense" and "ranting"
The only place where there are "sensitivities" about anthems is in the 6 North Eastern counties.
Some Rugbyites  from there didnt like standing for A na bhF at away games so Ireland's Call was invented to placate them. Then to avoid upsetting 95% of the team by playing the Lizzie Windsor dirge at an International in Ravenhill the IRFU skipped around  that sensitivity by saying Belfast was a foreign place.

Roger -- on a personal note ...a little less arrogance when disagreeing with someone wouldnt go astray . You wouldnt want the denizens of this Board having their beliefs in Unionist arrogance strengthened now would you  ;)

.  The IRFU is dancing around the Political sensitivities in the Republic on this .

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha...FFS there arent any political sensitivities about A na bhF in the 26 Cos.( Other than Laochra Fáil vs Fianna Fáil )
The IRFU have been playing it at L  R since 1931.
The "political sensitivities" are up your way Roger where 55% of the population dont accept A na bhF as their National Anthem.

Always bate Kerry in the few we do get to though  ;)

Always?? good one, you must have blanked the rossies last AIF appearance from the records!

Our last AIF was where we lost to Dublin in Junior last July. Our previous one was Minor 2006 where we bet KERRY in a replay.
We also bet them in 1944 Senior, 1978 U 21 and 2000 Junior. Our hurlers bet them in an U21 Final in 2007 also.
However I think Kerry's Seniors are safe enoughfrom us this year as we'll hardly get past Leitrim never mind reach the Final. :-\
