Celtic thought they were 2-1 in front with a few minutes to go, chalked off via VAR and then end up losing 2-1 with the Lazio winner arriving the 6th minute of added time.

PSG a shambles defensively the lads in the Virgin media studio before the game were claiming PSG are much improved as a team in defence since they got rid of Neymar and Messi whom didn't track back.

It will make a complete mockery of things if having been nominated at midfield, they then put McCarthy in at half back to squeeze him into the team.
To be fair a number of All Stars have been selected that way for a few years now.

Also most players don't play a dedicated position nowadays. Apart from designated man-markers or marquee forwards, anyone can be anywhere.
Correct those days are long gone, only poorly organised teams will leave opposition forwards with loads of room and time on the ball to cause damage. Both midfielders and wing half forwards are expected to put in a serious shift defensive as well as set up a lot of the attacking play.

Lack of displine cost Liverpool tonight and Matip scoring the winner for Tottenham in the sixth minute of added time, Manchester City most thankful they did.

Thought you were a United fan, no comment on United's loss today?

Thought wrong. Unlike some of you lads on here I don't have the time or patience to support a team across the water. I do like to see the blue half of Manchester beaten a soulless club.

Haven't watched any Patrick Kielty's late late shows thus far however of the Tubridy shows I watched the strong themes was talking to someone that's about to die or knew someone that died tragically and if that person has brought out a book about it all the better.

Quote from: twohands!!! on September 25, 2023, 01:29:54 PMIt will be interesting to see if Derry use more of the lads in the squad under Harte compared to Gallagher.
Surely there will be a change in approach in terms of Derry's use of the subs bench.

There's also the possibility of getting lads who were outside the panel previously to join up.
However given his previous form with Tyrone it's not like there will be a mad rush of lads bursting down the door to sign up especially if you are a forward given how many negative reports of what playing under him is like.

I really can't see Harte being very concerned with long-term development of youth given he's unlikely to see any benefit from it. That's pretty standard with outside managers in all sports, nevermind one in his 70s.

He'll hardly do a Gallagher on it whereby he wouldn't allow Lachlann Murray play for Derry U20s in their knock out tie and instead played him for two minutes for the seniors against Fermanagh.

Won't get many if any better chances to win the World cup than this. Australia,New Zealand the worst they have been in living memory,England average the defending champions beaten yesterday or be it are still in the competition.

Quote from: trailer on September 22, 2023, 11:39:14 AMHarte gets credit for the 3 All Irelands but no word of the 3 or 4 he left on the table. He had the greatest generation of footballers Tyrone ever produced and won only 3 all Irelands with them. Kerry who Tyrone were far better than won 5 between 2000 - 09.

Tyrone won those All Ireland's in spite of him, not because of him.

Blinded by your dislike of the man. That bit in bold is absolute nonsense.

2010 yes you should have been closer. You did not throw 3 or 4 AIs away in that time.

Won only 3 AIs - sure before him you had none. Only 3 AIs :o

And when you call him out on such nonsense he'll come back with more.

Based in his last 5 years at Tyrone, Mickey is not the man to give Derry the attacking freedom and confidence to climb the last hurdle or two.

They're more likely to implode than explode from here I reckon.

Derry currently are a better team than thr last 5 years of teams Harte managed at Tyrone. Remains to seen how he does with Derry as All-Ireland semi final could already be their ceiling regardless of manager.

All the gossip/speculation on this thread and wasn't one mention of Mickey Harte to become the new Derry manager. No doubt some chap will be on here shortly to say that appointment was known weeks ago
