GAA Discussion / Annual Memorial Competition
December 01, 2008, 07:23:25 PM
Hi all,
I got a call tonight from a friend who wants to try start up an Annual Memorial Competition for a friend of our who died at 25yrs of age three years ago. He's kinda feeling that maybe his passing is going out of our minds slightly.
So he was asking for ideas, our club had a charity hurling match every year which started off great but died off after abour 5/6 years. And to start that up again, we might not get the numbers.
Anyone any ideas of events we might try? The only thing I could think of on the spot was a long puck comp from one end of teh parish to the other, but would we need permission to close off the road etc for that?

Anyone got ideas of what we could try of have seen somewhere else?

General discussion / Nokia Phones
October 08, 2007, 07:43:49 PM
Does anyone else have a problem with their Nokia batteries? I have just gotten a Nokia 7373 and the battery is lasting a maximum of two and a half days. I know that new phones have way more features than before cameras, radio etc. But surely the battery lasting longer than two days should be fairly standard.

GAA Discussion / All-Weather Surface
September 28, 2007, 03:16:59 PM
Our club is putting up a hurling wall and 'all weather' area. However, as a means to cut down on the cost the all weather surface will be very fine chippings compacted and it'll do the job at a reasonable price. I have seen a ball alley in Wexford that has same chippings and it works fine. But has anyone here an all weather surface? And if so what did they use and how much did it cost? Would there be anyone getting rid of all stuff i.e upgrading and might throw away the old surface or is that just being tight?

GAA Discussion / Club Fundraising
August 09, 2007, 10:10:00 AM
An idea i had for the club was to have a club shop selling sweets, cans etc on match days. I see loads of those littler shop things ariving out of the back of the car and thought why can the club get the money instead of them?

Anyone have a shop located within the club grounds that does this and is it profitable?

Local GAA Discussion / Tipperary Club Hurling

With Tipp getting a third draw in three weeks where does this leave our club championship?

Best case senario is they can be played on the weekend of 15th July... if Babs puts a stop to it though it might go back to August and if Tipp win they can forget about the whole thing.

GAA Discussion / Dinner Dance
January 13, 2007, 04:40:58 PM
Lads our club are having a dinner dance for the presenting of the medals. It will be the usual meal, presentation, speech, band and DJ craic.

But I would really love a change and would love to know of any unique ideas we could have for the night. I was trying for a comedian/hypnotist instead of the band and have DJ after wards but other people on the committe are kinda against this as it might not be what the older people would want. But hardly no-one dances to the band as it is and it might be fun. But if anyone has an idea they have or have seen from aother even could you post it here and i'm goign to try at least have fun and not talk hurling for the night with teh junior manager!
The bamd budget is about €1,000 so i'd swap that for any other form of entertainment
