I like Davy Burke. It's a tough grind being a Manager of Roscommon. They mix it with the big boys regularly and are expected from that consistency to move to the next level. This next level is not easy achieve. Teams pop in and pop out of the next level regularly.

McStays inside knowledge of Roscommon meant that he would know a plethora of their weak spots. Nobody knows the weakness of a team better than the teams own manager. And it's not so long since McStay was in the Rossie dressingroom.

The ambush of last year was not going to happen this time. Mayo did the minimum to stay in Division One. This date would have been larger on the horizon this year.

Both Galway and Mayo now meet to see who will be Number One Seeds under the guise of a Connacht title. Both have a lot of work to do. Galway are in bonus territory, as they won't be as bad as they were on Saturday and nobody will be talking them up. They will be able to drift into the final with little or no fanfare.

After the weekend displays, other counties that are not provincial champions will be hoping to end up in the Connacht champions group.

You'd forget we are still in a title race.......so to speak! In any other League it would be, but the loss of form and Man City's invincibility makes it a slow death.

It didn't annoy City last year having extra games

Ah, but last year they were fresher after as they had not won the treble the year before.

United only lost by 2-1 in last years final. It's a one off game and maybe some of their players who have been jogging around the pitch for the last 9 months might decide to put in a shift. It is the chance to win a FA Cup winners medal after all. There is still some value to it.

The bad news for Utd is City are out of the Champions League. Those 3 games of distraction would have been a help.

Players getting up in their own beds, short travel to game, familiarity with the ground-staff, Familiarity of Dressing room, Familiarity of the pitch, Crowd influencing Referee decisions, Superior Crowd getting behind the players, the Hill, the Songs being played before the Match and at half time over the PA, the PA announcer, Familiarity of Match day rituals of Croke Park. The list goes on.

If there was any justice City would be stripped of all their titles. Will admit that Liverpool side did unbelievably well to get near that financially and I've a feeling physically doped team. Bit like that Mayo team running into the Dubs but at least Liverpool got their title!

Mayo are similar, All Ireland finals there to be won against Dublin in 2016,17 and found ways to lose them and even when they took out Dublin in 2012,2021 they ended up losing to Donegal,Tyrone.  We can all talk about the advantages of Manchester City and how much of soulless club there are however they weren't winning that 2021/22 league title without that Liverpool slip up with a few games to play against Tottenham who they more often than not beat in Anfield.

Next Liverpool fans will be using the excuse of making it to the Champions League final in 21/22. And the extra pressure of getting there and it affecting their League push.
