Couldn't agree more Benny. MotD or soccer highlights is very watchable, a full 90 min game, not in years. I watched a total of maybe 30 mins of the Euros, 25 of it was last night

i watched some of the Euros and watched the final in the company of a Spanish friend. It is notable that football tactics now more resemble soccer, but the games at the weekend scored 1-14 in 70 mins so there is still a lot more going on in the GAA game.

And the biggest pile of dung is rugby.
But it's really well promoted. But a very poor spectacle.

Rugby's a good sport to watch.

Players know what the rules are and there's no grey areas.

GAA could learn a lot from rugby. Disclipline and appeals is probably the biggest area.

I watched the RWC final.
I seen more footage of the referee and replays than of actual rugby.

Rugby imo is a great sport to watch. Like football, two teams going at it, big hits, physicality, warrior like stuff. Then you compare this to modern soccer, for me it's completely unwatchable. The constant playacting, diving, simulation would drive you up the wall.

International rugby is great to watch - but that's about it imo.
I can't watch a soccer match, bore you to tears. MOTD is enough, you see the goals, the sendings off etc and that takes about 5 mins for a 90 min game. Went to a premier league match years ago with a brummie friend, Aston Villa vs Man City. There were 3 goals. I was bored out of my tree.
2 of my lads recently started playing soccer in the off-season for a local club team - they're rubbish at the technical skills (lol), but enjoy the craic as half their gaelic team are at it. But even at that age, (u12s) there's a serious amount of of diving and crying to the ref. It's embarrassing. The pace is so pedestrian too in comparison to the gaelic, a match takes nothing out of the lads who play gaelic in comparison to the out and out soccer players. But, I can watch their game quicker than a premier league game.

League is a great sport to watch. Union not so much

ONeill

The NFL in the USA stayed ahead of the game becoming unwatchable. That's because they had to sell the product.

If the GAA are placing so much on money and TV, they've to do the same.

Doing my head in this ref although he's been decent apart from that. Umpires let him down for that 65 call.

Rossfan

I know it's hurley stuff where rules are optional extras....but aren't keepers meant to  take the puck out from inside the small square?
And line balls from the line not 2 feet inside it?

Like you say its an optional extra, the ref today opted to ignore those particular rules like 99% of hurling refs
