Sure is the price of a barrel of oil not away down this past few weeks?
Sure that relevance does that have, the suppliers/government don't give a flying f**k!

has not gone

Oil is priced in dollars, if you watch Drici's thread the dollar is up against £ and € partly because of these events.
Petrol has gone up over the summer because the Americans do a lot of driving around then, which is why diesel has not gone up so much.
However, oil has fallen a bit in the last day or so, we should see this show up.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

How do Americans do more driving in the Summer.....?
Maybe a fraction of a percentage more but surely not enough to affect the price of petrol?

It seems to be a couple of percent more, and makes a difference. Even Europeans may drive more, plenty of people from Mayo or Kerry will drive to Dublin on Sunday, something they do not do every week.

What's happening currently in Ecuador, how soon before it comes to this part of the world?

The civil unrest or the food shortages?

There will be civil unrest in this part of the world at some point in the not that distant future I would say. A lot of people won't be fit to feed themselves and their families if the current rises continue. That's before heating their home in the winter.

In April, diesel was more expensive than petrol in the 26 counties, now it is cheaper again.
