Does anyone know what loyalists are actually loyal to? They aren't loyal to the UK government because they don't listen to what they say to them and don't agree with any laws they make for NI e.g. abortion laws. They aren't loyal to the crown as they are going against this Windsor framework that has King Charles blessing.

Fierce tough battle that will stand to them. A great 6 nations, 26 points, can't ask for more (as you can't get more!)
Could have got 28

What sort of prices for fuel are you seeing in your areas? Going through Newry other day some places as high as 1.58 and as low as 1.49 for diesel

Is it not cheaper in south?

Be cheaper to drive another few miles for the fill up.
Im heading to carlingford this evening and hoping it will be in the 1.30s in Omeath. Was 1.45 a few weeks ago whilst prices up here were in the high 1.60s

Serious performances by Omagh in the semi and final...winning by 18 and 17 points respectively. Almost a pity it was so one sided as the atmosphere never really got going in Croker. Great achievement for my own club having 3 players on the 15 one being the captain with 2-5 from play and another being man of the match.

Any one of 4 or 5 schools in Ulster could have made a great cracking at winning today. Standard very high across the province this year.

Surely a good few inter county players come from that side. Serious talents with serious attitudes

Doubt it. Schools football hugely over rated. Be doing well to get 5/6 top club players from any school side. Hogan winners or not!
From the St Colmans Newry side that won 2 hogans in 10 and 11 AFAIK Caolan Mooney, Jerome and Ryan Johnston, Niall McParland, Niall Donnelly, Donal O'Hare and Ross McGarry. There were others on that team that played for Armagh so I'm not sure if any of them went on to play at senior level with Armagh. Honourable mention to Shay McCartan who went on to play professional soccer across the water

How many of them would you call established county players? I wouldn't say one! And that includes Mooney. Maghera had numerous sides that won and reached Hogan finals over 3 or 4 years. Conor Glass and Shane McGuigan the only two to really come through to play at a high level.
Mooneys been playing every year bar the years he's had bad injuries since he was a minor. Donal OHare was consistently our top forward for the best part of 5 years. Jerome and Ryan have been established for a long time as well

One thing ive always wondered is why the flag on the try line is considered out if you touch it?

Anything on the side line is out, is it not?
Yea the line is out but even if you touch the top or middle it counts as out even if your feet are still well in play

https://www.gaa.ie/football/news/o-carolan-college-aim-to-crown-incredible-year-with-all-ireland-title/

Surely something not right here, obviously a team playing one if not two grades lower than they should be.

Surely Carrickmore were not that bad a team.
Not many C grade schools in Ireland would have county players let alone minors and u20s

'Four of them, Sean O’Hare, Killian Smyth, Rian McConnell, and Adam Matthews, won All-Ireland minor medals in 2021. Three of them, O’Hare, Smyth and McConnell, are now members of the Meath U-20 panel.

They also have four players who played for the Meath minors last year in Darragh Smith, Darragh Kelly, Declan O’Reilly and Rian Stafford, who is a nephew of Royal County legend Brian Stafford.'

A couple of simple fixes.

First, if you need physio attention, and you don’t need to be substituted, then you will spend one minute on the sideline from when the game is restarted. No exceptions. No hard luck stories. Same rule for goalkeepers. Attempt to return before one minute and you get an automatic black card. This could be written into the rules as a player welfare need, at the drop of a hat.

Extend the black card rule to include “clear and obvious timewasting” and “attempting to gain an opponent an unwarranted card”. Referees would almost never use this tool, but the threat of it should keep our game more honest .
Only issue i have with this is if a player has a genuine injury such as cramp or a knock i.e something that can resolve fairly quickly why should their team be punished by having to play with a person down for a minute?

Down / Re: Down Club Hurling & Football

Have to say I agree
We had 15 players back for all of the first half
If paddy tally had done that he would be slated
Can someone tell me where have we improved?
Liam Kerr was missing for large parts of last year
We are still getting destroyed at midfield. Our defence with 15 back is shipping a lot. Yes we have scored more but we have dropped down a division.
It cant be good being a forward and having to work back into defense when the ball is lost and then having to sprint forward again when we win it back. It must be knackering. Liam Kerr is our link man atm and at times when hes bursting up the field because hes so fast he has no one ahead of him. Also if we dont bring as many forwards back then teams arent going to risk bringing as many of their defenders forward. If we limit ourselves to only bringing back a full time sweeper plus maybe 1 more forward it still leaves us with 4 up top to hit on the break.

Lurgan and Newry are two similar size towns. Newry probably bigger and unlike Lurgan is probably 95% Catholic.  But where are the Gaelic footballers?
Yesterday Armagh had
Conor Turbitt
Tiernan Kelly
Barry McCambridge
Stefan Campbell &
Andrew Murnin.  All Lurgan Men.
Down have nobody from Newry and have been under represented in Newry for decades.  Surely this is a big failure by the Co Board.

How many gaa clubs are there in Newry?
Bosco, Shamrocks, Mitchels. Then Glenn and ballyholland if you include the rural surrounding area

I'd feel pretty hard done by as a defender on this Down side. Laverty musn't trust them to be able to win 1 on 1 battles and thats why he chooses to flood the defense with a load of bodies
