Tbh the majority of those on our own county board including club reps were in favour of the rules.

Quote from: The Trap on November 30, 2024, 11:07:07 PMLet's see how it works out at all levels. Will be an interesting year.....

Allegedly it was trialed during an "end of season" club competition in Meath and both the referee and players adapted pretty quickly to the new rules.

As for the D...

None of you lads do any trigonometry at school?

If you lads think everyone funneling back inside their own 45 every time the opposition gets possession only to hand pass it laterally for an eternity is a good watch, then that's up to you, but Gavin's remit was to come up with a set of rules that made the game enjoyable to watch and also to play.

Agreed. Was also trialled in Gervaghy and went well.  Am surprised at the negativity here considering the dirge we've had to watch in recent years. Opposition to change seems to be a default position here. I rem same to frees and sideline balls out of the hands and no more handpassed goals now we cudnt imagine it like that.
Great to see this effort made to save Gaelic football.

Slight change here and there is always necessary as the game evolves though I think the main issue for a lot here and elsewhere is the huge amount of change done at once and any great judgement can't be taken out various trails held as proper judgement won't be seen until be have competitive games that matter.

The "save Gaelic football" is overplayed. Watched the Connacht and Leinster senior football finals at the weekend, two very enjoyable games.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Obviously all the delegates were expressing their Co Boards wishes.

Some bucks on here probably still write with quills.

I'll be surprised if it's not a decent watch with the amount of good quality players in action.

Well one semi final went right to the wire with a lad hitting some of the nicest points you're likely to see and the other saw a team score 4 goals in one of the best attacking displays you're likely to see. I'd imagine it'll be alright.

I assume these new rules aren't in play for the club semi finals and finals in the new year?

Assume right.  First competition with the new rules will be the NFL.  Sigerson cup and other college competition bizarrely will have the old current rules.

That'll be confusing if you're playing Sunday Wednesday.

Also, are there rules not coming in at minor? Another confusing one for lads playing senior and minor.

At least as important a factor, though, was the consensus sentiment that football needed help. For all that we had a great championship with unexpected winners, there is a crisis for the GAA in the collapse of attendance, especially in Leinster and an improved game may not be a comprehensive response. But it will be a start.

I'm not sure that any change in the rules will help the Leinster championship.

More Dublin retirements will help.

Looking at the players Diblin are losing, if Meath and Kildare aren't competing with them this year then they have no one to blame but themselves.

Next step is to tie the Dubs laces together.

Dublin losing their 2nd game in it in 21 years would give it some bit of lift.
