Hello all,

I will be traveling to Ireland from the USA with my brothers just to attend three matches in one weekend. Our wives will be along but they will be doing something else.

We did a similar trip back in 2019 and had a great time, so we are going to do it again!

I have been watching Hurling and Football on GAAGO and I see that a lot of the Allianz league matches are well attended. Should I buy tickets ahead of time?

None of us are willing to drive while there, so we have hired a driver for the weekend.

In 2019 we saw two hurling matches on Saturday and a football match on Sunday. We will do the same this year.

We are all looking forward to this trip!

Only a few are sold out, but you have to buy tickets online nowadays and if you know where you are going then why not just buy the ticket when it comes out?

Depends which games you are going to see. Barring an Armagh game I think you'll have no problem seeing any team in the country for a National League game hurling or football.

The Munster shc games will be tough enough to get tickets for. A tipperary home game would be your best bet.
Cork and Limerick have huge support and Waterford and Clare home games have relatively low capacity.

What's the date you are travelling?
I'm sure you'll get some advice on here on the best games to attend

Thanks for all The advice. I've bought tickets for three games. I picked the games based on where they are and what times they start. We need time to get between them and have some food and drink.

On March 21st we will visit the GAA museum at Croke Park.

March 22 and 23 are the dates of the games.

  • We start in Aughrim with Wicklow Vs Mayo at 14:30.
  • Next we are at Thrules with Tipperary Vs Clare at 19:30.
  • On Sunday we go to Armagh for Armagh Vs Derry at 15:45.

It will be a fun weekend.

Mayo are a strong football county, but not strong in hurling.
Wicklow v Mayo would not be a great spectacle and will have very low attendance.
Just to set your expectations!

We want to see Tipperary play in Thurles so we chose the Wicklow game because it is close enough to get to Thurles.

Thanks for the warning though. I think we will be happy just to be able to watch in person.
