Great game, two teams who went at it, I really enjoyed it.
I saw Derry in the semi-final last year and thought they were awful, their manager has done a fantastic job, they were great to watch today but if they had more self-belief the result could have been different.
Derry will surely regret the chances they missed, they went for goal, when a simple tap over was the best option, but its easy for me in my living room.
Well played both teams and thank you a great afternoons entertainment.

GAA Discussion / Will Mayo ever learn?
February 07, 2023, 01:52:10 PM
I watched the Armagh v Mayo game in London and it is the same mistakes we are still making.
We were 4 points up with 5 minutes added time, playing away from home and a good solid performance and we carried on the attack!
The Donegal, Dublin, kerry & Tyrone teams would have kept the ball and finished out the game as winners, we were lucky to get the draw.
We also had a goal scoring chance very late in the game, we went for glory, the shot was saved and a point scoring opportunity was lost.
The top sides would have popped the ball over the bar for another point but not us.
You can build the team up in the gym and have them as fit as a flea but if you continue to make bad decisions like this you wont win matches.
I look back at the finals we have played in the last 10 years or so and either drew or lost by a point, in each of those games there were at least 2 or 3 simple point scoring chances and we took none of them.
I wish Kevin McStay and his team all the best but if you don't learn from your mistakes, you don't win matches, its that simple.

Thank you James Horan for some great memories, there will now be a number of retirements from the players, COC, the
O'Se's and more. The truth is they are not good enough, we had great chances in 2012 and last year and never took them. I am sick of the same old excuses, " we never got going", "we didn't play as well as we could have" etc. We will now have to wait for this minor team and hope that a good few of these lads come through because this current crop are some way short of what's needed.

I like James Horan but we seem to have gone backwards in this season, the players seem like strangers to each other, lots of misplaced passes. They have the last two games look like hard work. If we lose against Kerry and I believe we will, Horan should step down, we are making the same mistakes. We have had too many chances in the last ten years and didn't take one of them, Donegal and Tyrone did and took it with both hands, we should learn from them.

I have never seen it so quiet on here from Mayo fans on a Sunday, why is this?

GAA Discussion / Re: Mayo V Monaghan Qualifier

Mayo won the game yesterday because they had fewer mistakes than Monaghan but it was a poor game, I can't understand Mayo fans saying what a great win it was? Mayo played like strangers for too many periods in the match, missing simple hand passes and having very little creativity in the final third. We are still far too dependent on COC to get the scores, take him out we are very ordinary. We are still in it but not for long on yesterday's performance. I watched the game on tv in London and the commentators kept talking about the "energy sapping" weather conditions, it's Castlebar in the month of June, not the Gobi desert!

Tyrone08 was spot on about Aidan O'Shea, very overrated for a player who cannot catch a ball cleanly or pass it with hand or foot. Our management team have made a few mistakes this year with some selections but few in the county thought we would get to the AI final last year, let alone this year. That said, we cannot keep coming back each year to accept defeat so easily and making cheap excuses, any of those players who played in the AI final should have been kicking down doors to win this year. Tyrone were the better team on the day, they did the simple things well and some of their scores were top drawer, well done. You give counties like Mayo the hope that one day we will eventually get over the line but we need to change this casual mindset and stop comments like " sure we will be back next year".

Aidan O'Shea is one of ther most overrated GAA players of his generation, watch how many times he drops or juggles a ball in every game, you should not be picked on size, its your ability that counts. That said too many Mayo players mis-placed or dropped simple hand passes. How many chances do we need? This was not a great Tyrone side

Changing the subject here, I cannot believe the tactics Dublin used in the first half, we were seven points down at one stage and they started hand-passing the ball around the backs like there was 3 or 4 minutes left of the whole game. If they attacked, they could have been out of sight. Very strange but delighted all the same.

Dublin won that game tonight without breaking sweat, it was like a training match, it was supposed to be a an AI semi-final.
The way the current structure is they could conceivably win the next 5 AI's.
If you think all is well in GAA football, you are living in the land of the fairies.
The next time someone bangs on about the amateur ethos I will vomit, Dublin are amateur in name only, they are professional in every single department.
I thought the GAA was built on the village team or the town team, Dublin are a long, long, way from that.

That was pure psychology by Joyce and it nearly worked, he won't be the first and he won't be the last. We, Mayo should have won by 5 or 6 points but we didn't, we got over the line by the skin of our teeth. We will need to make better decisions against Tipperary.

GAA Discussion / GAA county shirts
November 23, 2020, 11:04:43 AM
Dear All
I am trying to buy football shirts for my two lads here in London, O'Neill's website say you cant have the shirt on their website but I can have the international one(whatever this is).
Does anyone know if there is a difference between shirt bought in Ireland and the international one?
Thank you

When will Mayo ever learn? Early in the game when 4 points up we kicked away possession when there was no need to at all and the old failing, not taking easy scores. Very frustrating.
On the bright side, Tommy Conroy and Eoghan McLaughlin were impressive, still a lot of work to do but we are in the semi of an AI.
