The bizarre thing is that there can be grass between the ball and line, but when viewed from above the overhang of the ball is not fully over the line. That's what happened here. So seemingly correct decision, but the rule should be changed!

As Walton said on ITV, there's a misconception that you only look at the part of the ball touching the ground. That pic from above shows that the whole of the ball is not over the whole of the line (by about a millimeter!)
