Kuhn away to Italy for 16.5million. Thought Celtic might have got a few more quid for him. Still a good profit in 1 year.

21 goals and 15 assists last season.

That was a tough watch last night. An absolute disgrace that this is happening in this day & age.

Because it's set for next Sunday in Newbridge. Get over it..

Both semi's are already double headers too

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on June 29, 2025, 03:36:03 PMWe knew they were beatable, should beat Galway with abit to spare, and we got Dublin with O'Callaghan actually playing and Dublin not missing a bagful of wides which they had been doing all year and yesterday.

If there was an all Ireland for finding excuses we'd be right up there with the best.

Quote from: Take the Mark on June 26, 2025, 08:24:13 AMAndy gone, who will want it? The (alleged) salary will be one of the only luring quality for prospective managers.

Hopefully the next incumbent will have a fresh canvas to start on at least.

The fact we are in Division 4 might attract a few in. Opportunity to come in and get a promotion to get some good will from the beginning.

May well be but my opinion says the current crop would fail to make it out of division 4 regardless of management - and the retirement of their actual county players won't help that cause. So the next man in has a panel to select carefully.

Who else do you expect to retire after McAleese?

Hasn't been a mention of the leagues so I doubt it, when are the championship draws being held?

No one seems to know. Are there any dates set?

D1 Results

Loughmacrory 1-16 Edendork 1-16

Gortin 1-14 Moortown 1-16

Ardboe 2-19 Pomeroy 0-13

Donaghmore 5-23 Derrylaughan 3-11

Errigal Ciaran 0-12 Trillick 1-9

Carrickmore 1-15 Galbally 1-15

Killyclogher 1-18 Dromore 1-13

The opening round of action in Division one demonstrated how competitive it is with three of the seven games finishing in stalemates. Harry Og Conlon proved to be the Edendork hero with a two pointer deep in injury time to earn his side a draw away to Loughmacrory. Cormac Mallaghan, Conor Mallon and Ben Cullen all contributed points for the visitors with Rian Nelis their goal scorer. Ruairi McCullagh top scored for the St.Theresas with Pauraic Meenagh, Ronan Fox and substitute Eoin McElholm all registering as well.

Moortown had a narrow win away to Gortin in a clash between two sides who were promoted last term. The St.Malachys laid the foundations for their win in the first half but had to withstand a fightback from Gortin after the break. Ryan Smith got the Moortown goal with Shea Lawn landing eight points and Liam Lawn and Ryan Kelly on target as well. Liam Og Mossey got the Gortin goal as well as a few points with Sean Og McAleer and Ciaran Brolly raising white flags as well.

Ardboe proved too strong for visiting Pomeroy at Coney Park. Caolan Mallaghan got both goals for the Rossas with Shay McGuigan kicking 0-7 and Oran Mulgrew, Jamie Concannon, Cormac Devlin and David Mulgrew notching ten points between them. Ryan Loughran and Ronan Duffin both hit two pointers for the Plunketts with Peter McGoldrick and Ryan McCallan on target as well.

Donaghmore came from six points down at halftime to record a comfortable win over Derrylaughan at Father Devlin Park. Conor Cush was in sparkling form for the winners with 1-9 to his name with Ronan Cassidy scoring 1-5 and man of the match in last week's All Ireland U20 Final Noah Grimes helping himself to 1-3. Tomas Carney was in fine form for the Kevin Barrys with his haul including a brace of goals with Fintan Cullen getting their other major and James Donnelly a few points.

Shea McDermott scored a late two pointer to earn County champions Errigal Ciaran a share off the spoils in a low scorer encounter with Trillick. It was his second two pointer after coming on as a substitute with Tommy Canavan and Eoin Kelly also weighing in with two pointers as well. Lee Brennan weighed in with 0-6 for the St.Macartans with James Garrity getting a brace and the evergreen Niall Donnelly bagging the only goal of the game.

There was also a stalemate in the local derby between Carrickmore and Galbally. Darragh Donaghy struck for an early goal for the Pearses with Eoghan O'Neill and Liam Rafferty getting a brace each but a fine Tiernan Loughran goal coupled with points from Danny Fullerton and Lorcan McGarrity saw the wind assisted hosts lead at the break. A two pointer from Cormac Donnelly and one from Daniel Kerr had the visitors four in front on the restart. Fullerton, Oisin McElroy and Rory Loughran edged Carrickmore in front only for Donaghy and Kerr to respond. Caolan Daly then scored Carrickmore's last score before a Kerr free earned the Pearses a draw.

Killyclogher made home advantage count in one of the games of the day in the top flight as they saw off the challenge of Dromore. Conall McCan got their goal with Tiernan Cox, Patrick Corcoran and Mickey Rafferty among their points. Paudi Dillon top scored for the St.Dympnas with 0-5 with Ronan McNabb junior and Odhran Rafferty matching that tally and Oran Sludden getting their goal.

A couple of corrections at the top. Is reserve football close to dead?

I'm afraid it is, so sad to see this but the writing has been on the wall for the past couple of years.
Imo i honestly think it's a generation problem. Young fellas (not all) these days simply don't want to play but they happy to train and stand in gyms. But minute there a game there unavailable for selection, on the flip side 20 years ago you hated the site of training but never missed a game.
Also the recreation league should only be for players over 30.

I think it's a bit of the complete opposite.

The commitment is now through the roof, club sides now trying to run like intercounty sides.

Starting to train in December/January for a league that's month away. Attendance required at all sessions, trainings, gym, video analysis, team meetings, sports psychology sessions. Not very appealing for someone that knows their at reserve level, or living in Belfast at university, or wants a few pints at the weekend.

It's either you're 'in or out' at a lot of clubs, and 'in' is 3-4 nights a week for 10 months a year. Is the juice worth the squeeze for a reserve footballer. It's not as acceptable anymore to train 1 night a week and show up for a reserve match, or say I'll not be there this weekend I've a weekend away with the missus or a stag. Add that in with the fact that you might only get 7-8 league games in a reserve season with the amount of games conceded. After a few years of that, it's easy for fella's to opt out.

Quote from: Ryan O on May 25, 2025, 05:30:18 PMMaybe I'm over simplifying it but what would be wrong with:

       Mc Kinless/Lynch
Mc Grogan   Mc Evoy   Baker/Mc Closkey
Doherty     Mc Faul    Forbes
      Glass   Rogers
Paul Cass    Higgins   Ethan
Toner/Loughlin    Mc Guigan    Murray

Notable subs:
Rogers
Tohill
Mc Dermott

I think this is about as good as we have at the minute. The only change for me would be McGrogan to the half back line for Forbes. Baker a first pick. Really unfortunate for Gilmore this year who I think has the potential to really kick on. I think a Rogers, Glass, McFaul spine is very solid. Higgins showing a goal threat we badly need. Tohill I don't rate too highly but decent offer off the bench.

You don't rate him but he's a good option off the bench?
