General discussion / Nature - nurture. Male attitudes towards women
« on: January 19, 2022, 07:51:18 AM »
Nature is what we think of as pre-wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception, e.g., the product of exposure, life experiences and learning on an individual.

To get away from the other thread and allow it to be related specifically on topic as it’s taken a turn for the worst on some posts.

Do males have an inherent behaviour towards woman or is it learnt?

General discussion / Homelessness
« on: October 07, 2020, 01:35:51 PM »
Belfast is either getting worse of because there are less people in town center its more noticeable...

Whether its homelessness or they are kicked out of their digs early, Belfast center is full of people begging for money, shooting up, fighting or just lying in the street

The money isn't for food, generally its for Lidl who are open at 8.00am serving drinks

The underpass walk way at the Albert Clock is full of needles and I've frequently walked past lads and girls shooting up at 8am and at 5pm when I'm heading home.

There are as many women as men and they are from all over the country

Ambulances are common in the area dealing with ones that have collapsed or over dosed!

Is this same in all the cities? is it getting worse?

There’s a clamour now to ban certain films and tv shows.

I see Cops has been taken down and Little Britain (never watched it)

General discussion / What’s your specialty?
« on: March 13, 2020, 11:38:50 AM »
With all the experts on here it be interesting to hear what people’s actually specialty is!

Job description would be good start

Degree course they covered

Pastime they have great knowledge of

Sporting background

Medical ailments that they’ve had (which gives them insight)

I generally talk shite on here, I don’t care about that, I’ll freely admit that  :D but the amount of experts on here that are able to give better information that real experts is baffling.

General discussion / Budding Writers
« on: February 03, 2020, 09:58:37 PM »
Any budding novelists/playwright/screen writers on the board!

Would love to get into writing short stories but fail to have the will power to actually dedicate time and effort to put pen to paper. That’s mainly due to work, As I’m usually zapped after work.

For some it comes very naturally but would there be workshops out there for amateurs?

Limerick coasted today I thought! Cork impressive enough the other night. Clare good win also and the Cats will learn nothing from that today.

As will Antrim today against Mayo, Down good win v Roscommon and the rest going to form I think

General discussion / Fraudsters/Con men (or women :D )
« on: November 28, 2018, 01:23:46 PM »
Fraudsters

Was watching Spotlight on the other night and these fraudsters, or con men for the want of a better word were ripping people’s life savings off with very clever financial techniques, with fancy offices and tailor made suits these guys had the appearance of a genuine profitable financial company with a great looking website and profitable returns promised!

The ploy was asking people for money which they said they would hold and if anything, lets say went tits up (not their words) they would still have their £10,000 safe, but should things work out as they see the market go then that £10,000 could turn into 20 or 30 grand very quickly, now obviously they went into a lot of detail with how they would do it and so on, but at the end of the day they were just stealing people’s savings and they never paid it back as the contracts were made up in such a way that they held all the aces regardless of the promises that the initial loan was always going to be safe!

They were from Bangor and had set up previous companies under different names after each of them were closed due to financial irregularities. they have since the Spotligt show, set up in London under a different name.

I’m wondering how common is it to be fooled/scammed by these f**kers? They targeted small business owners and the likes of people with good jobs who had cash in the bank that wasn’t making them money, so it wasn’t your old granny without a pot to piss in.

I've no savings so they would be wasting their time on me  ;D

General discussion / Soccer child abuse scandals
« on: November 30, 2016, 01:05:40 PM »
Surprised it hasnt be brought to light by the usual thread starters.. Seems more and more clubs have had a history of this and Chelsea only recently 'paid off' and person who was abused while at their club...

Will our local clubs soccer/rugby/GAA be looking into their own affairs? We have excellent child protection courses but how many are vetted properly ?

General discussion / The medical thread
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:12:48 AM »
Thought I'd get this topic up before Seafoid did ;D

Any illness and ways you've dealt with them

Are doctors (GP's) just doing the basic checks or with the power of Internet is it better to self diagnose and self medicate rather than time spent at local surgery?

And with the likes of Randox health checks is it better to get a kit that could check your blood, cholesterol, blood pressure and other things that the normal GP carried out
