I think its time the GAA took a more youthful approach to match day officials.I may be wrong this time but in general i would say that most umpires would be of mature years & not having 20/20 eyesight,which should be a basic requiement for such an important role in any inter-county fixture.

As long as the county board fail to provide the required facilities to compete at the highest level at all ages we will struggle to compete,take a look at the facilities that Monaghan have which has been rewarded with an Ulster final appearance today.Another point is that the idea of starred games should be scrapped & let our players get as much competitive football with their clubs as possible to try & build the confidence of players & develop skill levels,rather than deprive them of football & expect them to go out & perform miracles on big match days.

After the display i witnessed in Newry tonight,i think the time has come to do away with this bullshit of starred games.This starring business from what i see only prevents our top players playing competitive football on a regular basis @ club level & this was very evident tonight with players of inter-county standard not being able to make a simple pass or take a score from play.
