There was a massive crowd also at the Galbally and Edendork game which was played on a Thursday night.

Whilst what the posters said above would be great it's not something the county board could do.
Could you imagine if they hand picked certain games to be played on non ACL nights in order to attract crowds, how would the other clubs that are never picked to play react, what about the travelling team oh great we get to travel on a Monday night to swell the coffers of XXX.

The best way to sort this is that every team is involved twice per season. You get 1 home fixture snd also must play 1 away fixture. Local derbies are the attraction or at least close rivalries. The distance involved for the 2 teams must be minimal if possible

I'd agree with above posters with those ideas. Coalisland-Errigal is this Thursday evening I'd imagine there will be a huge crowd in annagher to see that one.

I see the youth fixtures committee have decided to start the u15 league on 16th July, probably the biggest holiday week of the year.. ridiculous decision.. will be a few games conceded early on id imagine especially for the smaller clubs and it being peak holiday season

Strange start date all right. I see that except for Grade 3, all the grades are being played as a single section, single round-robin. Some sort of experiment?

Yep, didn't they absolutely walk the G2 u15 Feile..

seeing many examples of this across the ages this year.. Edendork in G3 u13..NBrid in G4 13..

have to bring in some rule here, whether its league form contributes to championship grade or whatever..

U15 comp should be pushed back to August/September.. stupid starting it 12th week

Totally agree some of the gradings are awful. Teams dishing out hammerings and walking a grade. NBrid in G4 was scandalous. They could easily complete at G2 and quite poss G1

They hammered Eskra in the semi and then us in the final. There was only a point between us and Strabane in our semi.

Are Meyler and McKernan still eligible for Championship in September?

Yes definitely too strong for grade 3. The powers that be within our club can't see past winning grade 3 titles. This past few years all our youth teams have been operating at grade 3 when if truth be told must of the teams would compete in grade 2.

Under Lights

Whats the thought process there, is it to get them into a habit of winning and a winning mentality? Obvious pitfalls there that development stagnant and rude awakening when stepping it up a level but here who knows, winning games and titles will certainly keep all the players turning out.

Gaafan2

For as long as I can remember we would always have had our youth teams in either grade 1 or 2. This past 5-6 years the mindset within the club has changed and our teams have be competing at grade 3. Yes we may be winning the majority of games we play in but I wouldn't be for it. Our standards seem to have slipped, which is down to playing against weaker teams. Better to be competing well in grade 2 than winning grade 3 titles imo.

If pomeroy has senior ambitions they shouldn't be playing g3.. the other side of the scale is you look at the likes of derrytresk, eskra..very small clubs but appear to be maximising playing in g3

It only works if no other team does it. If there is another shark in the water a club could find itself with 6-7 easy games, 2 tankings and no silverware, not even competitive football to aid development.
