These are the final placing's in the Div1 Football League 2015.

Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!

Heshs Umpire

They could be two decent semi finals; Killeen v Portlaoise and Port v The Heath.
Nice to see Port going well. Laois could do with 2/3 players from the second largest town.
Well I could keep it above
But then it wouldn't be sky anymore

SCFC

The new style Division 1A and 1B next year could be good. Hopefully more close games. Think Killeen might win this year, they have a strong first 15.

#48
Kileen 0-12 Portlaoise 2-4
For the first time in a long time Portlaoise were outplayed, tactically very naive and seriously out-muscled in this league semifinal last night. To put it mildly Kileen won pulling up so well done to them. They had outstanding players in the Kingstons brothers, The two O'Sheas, Joe Mulhare, Alan Ryan and the excellant Jason Enright. Portlaoise were terrible and lost a lot of ball while trying to burst through tackles. Their passing was also atrocious and many passes were intercepted by Kileens well drilled mass defence.
The only one blot on the game were the sending's off. After 5 minutes Kileen lost Donie Brennan to a black card for what looked like petulance towards referee Maurice Deegan. They also lost a midfielder to a straight red for punching a portlaoise player during a small melee. Kileens dicipline this year is bordering on the ridiculous and something needs to be done to stop it by either their own mentors/administrators or by the administartors at board level. If not someone will recieve a another serious injury. Portlaoise lost Cahir Healey to a black card for a late tackle in the first half.
Where do's this leave Portlaoise. I dont know but it could be the first sign of a drop in their standards as they dont seem to have quality players to replce those missing. On the other hand they have been stung and anyone else who meets them may suffer.
On this performance the odds on Kileen winning their first championship will have shortened although their dicipline and what looks like a very limited bench could be their downfall.

High Fielder

Portlaoise's standards are dropping in line with the overall standard, and if that doesn't show up in Laois, it certainly will if they or whoever else represent us in the Leinster Club. Ill discipline is a county wide problem. Fair play to Arles Killeen. You can only beat what's in front of you and they did that Saturday evening. They have a winning and hard working attitude to the game despite being very limited in a number of areas on the field. The presence of The Heath in the other semi shows how far the rest of the teams are plummeting. Laois football is in a bad place

Spillane

Any noticeable absentee for Portlaoise? Good win for Killeen all the same, hopefully a win over Portlaoise will actually give them the belief that they can beat them in championship and not just contain them in a damage limitation system they had the year previous.

In fairness to The Heath last year they were unlucky not to beat Killeen and reach a semi final in championship only for the brilliance of both Donie's, big and small.

A bit harsh on the Heath there a lot of hard work out there being done out there. Expect a good game Thursday evening in OMP for the final.
It's hardly possible to build anything if frustration, bitterness and a mood of helplessness prevail

High Fielder

No offence intended. Just calling it how I see it really. None of these emerging teams have anything new or exciting to offer the county. Portlaoise are blending in and hoping to coast to another county title. They might get caught in the long grass adopting such a lazy attitude, and in many ways it might wake them up as a club. Only getting 7 scores against a back line like Killeens is pretty poor stuff. I don't see anyone there even the colour of a county player

Heshs Umpire

Low scoring final tonight. 8-5 to Killeen. Any reports?

Yea very low scoring. Kileens new ultra defensive system where they put 12 behind the ball accounts for that. they then depend on the Kingstons to score. they are very strong physically so well done to them. They will be in with a big shout for the Championship this year again and have a great chance of winning it.

its a bit early to be talking up Port, won't see the best of portlaoise till later on in the summer.

You're right, but it's encouraging to see someone like Port pushing on in the league. We need our larger urban areas challenging properly. Portlaoise, Port, Mountmellick and Graiguecullen account for a sizeable chunk of Laois' population and should be more prominent.

mountmellick beat them again in the championship big differents to league and championship.
