SLIGONIAN

Watched Galway V Leitrim, it was an awful standard from start to finish, both teams guilty of poor shooting and turnovers. There was generally a poor intensity to the game. At 7-6 Leitrim had a few openings for the equaliser but never looked like having the fire power inside. Surprised Galway looked so poor tbh. Galway have 15 days until final so will get a good look at the other side of the draw and can only improve.

How are Roscommon fixed for our game tomorrow? There doesn't seem to be much between Sligo, Ros and Mayo this year? Hopefully the Schools success doesn't affect us too much.

Better weather conditions than last night and should be a decent game in what was the 2020 and 2021 Connacht minor finals between the two.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

SLIGONIAN

Great win for us Ros 1-8 Sligo 0-15

We were 10-1 up at one stage and gave Roscommon life at the end of the 1st half and they pushed us hard and got back to a 1pt with 10 mins to go but we regained control to score the last 3 points. Very impressive at times but should never have let them back into it. Previous Sligo teams would have buckled but not this team. Some serious talent coming through and bench is strong.

Mayo in Castlebar in 7 days. It will be tough, we beat them 3 years ago so hopefully we can again. Congrats to all involved.

Sligo certainly deserved their win the more organised and better coached team. Roscommon did manage to cut the nine point gap to 1 but Sligo finished the stronger.

Didn't get to watch the Galway Leitrim game as was at club training.
Heard from a few lads that were at it that it was poor stuff.
Conditions were terrible in North Galway on Wednesday evening though so I imagine that had a part to play.
The Galway minor team three years ago was weak enough.
This u20 team have lost their best player now to injury Liam O Conghaile. Huge loss and he was the teams free taker also.

Yeah, he was definitely Galway's stand out player during the John Kerins Cup run. Very unfortunate to lose him for the championship. Sounds like he won't be back in time to take any part.

Yep we made it respectable in the second half but that first 20 or 25 minutes must be the worst by any Ros team this Century.
We were flattered to be only 5 down at h/t, 3-10 to 0-2 would have been a fairer reflection.
A couple of great saves by our goalie  whatever about the kickouts. He made a fine save near the end which went over the bar off him.
But we looked like a crowd of lads who met for the first time in the dressing rooms before the game.
Sligo looked like a team, well drilled and prepared with a gameplan  and well conditioned etc.
Hopefully the Senior management can get hold of the better lads from tonight and try and develop/improve them....
Hope Sligo go on to win it now.

Sligo have reaped the benefits of having a training centre of their own and a number of former Senior players getting involved with the development panels.

They are well capable of winning back to back Connacht U20 titles but the schedule is against them this year.

This evenings U20 match switched from MacHale Park to the Connacht GAA Centre. Not very suitable for anyone that stayed the night in Castlebar and arrived on public transport.

Rossfan

I thought the new McHale pitch could cope with rain and 19 year old lads running about on it?
Or are JP and his County playing silly beggars to discommode Sligo?

Who'd be staying the night in castlebar for a midweek u20 game against sligo!?

Made that call very late, still ongoing issues with MacHale Park even though they have a new pitch now?

Plenty, especially family members of the players. Would be some others that travelled via public transport and would have to stay the night. Would be no need to be staying at all if these games was set for a Saturday or Sunday with afternoon throw ins.
