I'm still wearing the old white one to games. I've always much preferred the white with red band. Having said that many youngsters will want the latest jersey and that's where it's a complete shame they change so often.

Great game Wales should have a man in the bin at this stage!

Fiji have fumbled the ball twice going over the line ffs. A bit more  maturity and better discipline and they would be winning

Yeah definitely. Can't believe he's given Fiji that yellow and Wales are offside for fun defending the try line and nothing!

The better team lost. Most of the decisions went the way of Wales also.

Bookies have us as fourth favourites, behind NZ, France and South Africa. So expectation is that we will exit at the QF stage.

All 4 favourites in one half of the draw. Complete joke. What a tournament it could've been with those 4 in the semifinals.

I am glad to see Jim back with Donegal.....they will be as good as they can be!
I would imagine he will join the £100k a year bracket that would currently include Harte, McGeeney, Tally.
Over £50k would be McEntee Antrim and McEntee Sligo, McConville, Devlin at Louth etc.......
Though clubs are paying massive amounts now too.
Between county and club, football and hurling I would imagine the brown bag economy is around the 200 million a year mark.......that's probably more money than swirling around all of the professional sports in Ireland put together!

I'd say Harte is on more than that. There's no way he took a pay cut to go to Louth.

Anyone with half a brain knows the comments from brolly re mcguigan were ridiculous. He only makes that type of controversial comment to keep his profile up and have people talking about him. The pathetic thing is every time Shane has even a mediocre game over the next season or 2 brolly will be saying that proves him right. Shane is a special player, probably one of the best forwards Derry have ever had. If we had one or 2 more forwards close to his calibre we'd be in great shape for an AI.

Are Derry going to try to bring Rory Gallagher back in?

No chance. RGs reputation is in tatters. He'll never get near a team again.

watch this space..

Agree.
Remember the statement Derry Co Board released at the time of the furore saying initially that he 'had stepped back'.  The sponsors won't have an issue with him returning and our CEO certainly won't either. I think they'll slip him back in and ride it out. No games for 5/6 months helps as well as no circus surrounding him on the sideline.

What's the weather like with you over there in cloud cuckoo land?

1. Beggan
2. McCluskey.  3. Fitzsimmons. 4. T O'Sullivan
5. O'Connell 6. J McCarthy. 7. White
    8. Fenton.  9. Rogers
10. P Clifford.  11. Basquel.  12. Smith
13. Clifford.  14. McGuigan. 15. Costello

Can't see Beggan getting in over Cluxton/Ryan/Lynch tbh.
As much as I'd like to see mcluskey in, 3 for an Semi-finalist probably won't happen.
I could see McManus getting one.
But I'd say you're not too far away in general there.

Mc Carthy of Monaghan will get one.

Very possibly, I think it'll be between him and O'Connell. If there's one from outside the semifinalists it'll be between Enda Smith and D Canavan both of whom had great seasons.

You'd think it's a good thing that the UK get access to the game on a free to air station with many more thousands watching it than would usually.

But nah people giving out and moaning again as usual!

The BBC coverage was excellent and has rightly drawn widespread support on Twitter. The only complaints I saw there were a few newcomers to the game who didn't fully understand the scoring system and would have liked it explained. I really enjoyed listening to the Irish celebrities which was a great idea for connecting with British GAA novices. The anchor is brilliant and the panel aren't afraid to express their own opinions.

Very nervy and average final... maybe Derry would have been the same but very disappointed after that.

Brolly reckons Shane McGuigan wouldn't have got in the Dublin FF line... they scored 2 points from play today!

Mcguigan has had a better year than any forward on the pitch today bar Clifford. It's laughable to think he wouldn't be starting on either team today.

I'm going to guess

Stephen Cluxton (Dublin)
Gareth Mckinless (Derry) Michael Fitzsimons (Dublin) Graham O'Sullivan (Kerry)
Gavin White (Kerry) James McCarthy (Dublin) Conor McCarthy (Monaghan)
Diarmuid O'Connor (Kerry) Brian Fenton (Dublin)
Paul Mannion (Dublin) Con O'Callaghan (Dublin) Sean O'Shea (Kerry)
Shane McGuigan (Derry) David Clifford (Kerry) Colm Basquel (Dublin)

Dublin 7
Kerry 5
Derry 2
Monaghan 1

It's a complete joke process if conor mccluskey doesn't get one. Look how quiet paudie clifford was v derry compared to the final today. He's marked every forward out of it he's been up against plus he's contributed to so many of Derrys attacks. For me him and Rogers are 2 shoe ins for Derry. If we get 3 Mcguigan should be chosen.

Did nobody else think Glass was at fault for the Kerry goal?
I know I said before that White is fast but Glass seemed to let him go.
Not sure would McKinless or others have done the same.
Yeah it was poor from him, was also poor from Clifford for Derrys goal, he let Rogers run past him.

I see a lot of posts about Derry changing their style. I don't think they really did, they attacked with 15 and defended with 15 like they always do, they pressed the kick outs like they always do, they used Lynch as a spare man out the field like they always do, they went for goals like they always do.

They've put in very good attacking displays before playing like this which the media fail to acknowledge (eg All Ulster champ games in last 2 years bar the finals, Clare last year, Donegal this year, all the Div 2 games they won at a canter). The boring games are when teams replicate them and there have been a few high profile games like this eg the last 2 Ulster finals, Galway last year, Cork. The main difference was how Kerry set up against them imo.

Totally agree with this, Derry didn't change their style at all.

Hopefully after yesterday Derry will now get more credit and respect for their brilliantly creative attacking play. We created at least 5 or 6 goal opportunities in that game although the majority were half chances. I'd have to give credit to Kerry for some tremendous last gasp and brave defending. It's so heartbreaking to lose especially when we were the better team for over 60 minutes. All credit to Kerry though for hanging in there and taking advantage of their spell of dominance.

Galway won well in the end last year due to 2 bad errors for goals. Derry should been 1.05 to no score up, not 3 pts. Galway didn't score for 25mins. Glass point not counted, Derry need 2 new forwards that common knowledge, it's the reason we can't actually expand more. Next year I expect Murray, McWillians and Downey to regularly start and they have more a cutting edge. Lad's are always injured alot though compared to the other players. Am just looking at not losing a game as bad as Mayo/ Tyrone, what's the point of it been a great game for the viewers if u beat out of the field.

Derry don't have the best forwards individually but as a collective Derry create and take some brilliant scores. That is down to fantastic team play and great movement. Galway nullified that with a number of sweepers last year and Tally will probably do something similar with the Kerry defence.
