From a neutral's point of view most of thr county would love to see the og's beating cross.there dominance does not help our clubs developement at all.

Many of you mentioned Aidan O'Rourke as super coach. Well, he is now the Down coach as of tomorrow. You heard it here first!
ck your news is old hat -almost everyone i was chatting to over the weekend knew that he was a shoe-in for this post.

Surely the County Board now have to apologise to Paddy Heaney for calling him a liar??!!
why should they
he is not a super coach, he is a number 2 to give some tactical nous to POR

been to windsor a few times , actually was at the isreal game in 1981 as a kid( NI won 3-0 ) to send them to spain, also saw the columbia game and was at the various republic games, didnt ever get any hassle indeed the only hassle at any games north or south was in usa in 1994 when some druk southerners called me a plastic paddy and told me to f--k off home and support my own country
since that and the fact that to play for NI you have to hold a brit passport i dont support either team
joining the two up like rugby would be a sensible solution
but it is wrong to say that you are in fear as a taig going to windsor

didnt he get the queen`s gig( director of football or something), this may prevent him from travelling to kildare as regularly as he did last year.

Looks like someone in an influential position has been briefing Heaney.
Jesus, these guys have no clue.
methinks Paddy is getting his info solely from this message board ;)

as i said i think paddy is making it up, he is trying to cobble together the snippets he is getting from here
my understanding is that paddy gets another year--no dir of football crap and has been told to stengthen his backroom team, guys have been approached but no committments have been made to date

david that is the statement he made after the tyrone game, wouldnt read too much into it, but my understanding is that the county board want a stronger backroom team to assist as many like ourselves have been unimpressed with moves etc hopefully we get j mc entee (and say oisin in) with mc shane helping .
the indo today seems to agree with this

Armagh were at least 7 down to Fermanagh at the Athletic Grounds in the early 90's with 5 minutes to go and won by a point.

It was 9 points down with around 5-6 minutes to go. Fermanagh were a bit cocky and brought on some young lads as a run-out. Armagh more-or-less having given up on the sidelines brought on Barry O'Hagan to give him a debut. Barry got the ball wide and ran at the defence. Even though Armagh needed goals badly, Barry hit the ball over the bar. To be honest he just looked like he wanted a score on his championship début. The rest of the team looked at him like he was an idiot. Anyway from the kickout the ball went to midfield where it was fielded and then booted forward - Goal. few minutes left and now five points in it. Grimley was moved to full forward from midfield and the result was pretty much two kickouts, two catches, two punts forward and two net busters.

Armagh won by a point and if it hadn't been for O'Hagan's point it would have been a draw at best. The Athletic Grounds was half empty by the time the final whistle was blown as a lot of Armagh fans had left early in disgust. I passed lots of orange flags that had been thrown in the hedges and ditches as I left the ground. I was thinking that I bet those guys wished they had stayed and never thrown their flags away.

I believe the game was 1993.
Was that not the game that Denis Holywood scored a couple of goals in?
it was
felt really sorry for fermanagh manager that they--he was in tears at the end

Is this the end? Not a chance. Tyrone have structures for under age and school's football that are second no no other county. The conveyor will continue to supply quality and Tyrone will continue to be involved in the latter stages of the championship.
its not as easy as this just ask galway in hurling, a good underage set-up doesnt equate to all-irelands

having watched the game again the match reminds me somewhat of the armagh /kerry AIQF in 2006 when the wheels came off spectacularly for Armagh in the second half and we watched the death knell of that great team,
I take no joy in Tyrone losing and only hope that people recognise the great players that tyrone had over these past 8 years, Dooher, mc menamen,o neill, gormley to name a few, rebuilding is tougher than you think ( just ask us in armagh) although I hope we climb the greasy pole before you guys.
