Challenge games v Tipp (lost by a point) and Kerry (last night) this week. Plenty of lads looked at.

Well done there to this lad who retained his belt at the weekend. Quite an achievement and great to hear he's making some big bucks out of it.

I haven't been to any of the O'Byrne cup games this year so hard to comment on player performance etc.

Anyone have an idea what the opening matchday squad might be, starting team + subs?
Hard to say. A few lads are sure to start and it's anyone's guess after that. I'd say Brody, Timmons, JOL, the 2 Kingstons, Evan O'C, Dillon and maybe Lillis are nailed on.

Playing Louth in Croker. Curtain raiser to a ladies football game!  ::)
Curtain raiser to a double header actually.

The Laois hurlers would kill to play in Croker. Have at it I say

The last game with Carlow should be tasty  8)
Suits the grandest anyway. Laois match, watch the rugby on a telly in premium level and then watch the Dubs.

Anyone else confirmed for 2019? Any of the junior or intermediate teams get anyone decent?

Is it

a) desirable for the sport
b) possible to stop it?
c) a sign that something is wrong ?

When do you think it will stop ? 19? 20? 21?
Are you expecting anything from Kerry ?
a) what sport?
b) stop what?
c) what's wrong?

Roddy isn't coming back in this year.
I wouldn't blame him.
How would you even have the stomach to pick up a hurl.
Didn't he play League of Ireland soccer for UCD? Wouldn't be impossible that he'd go off and get a few quid kicking for Limerick or Galway or that level.

I presume the Castletown-Slieve Bloom link-up is dead now as Slieve Bloom are Senior A.
Of course. I missed that. Which means no Gaels teams at all in hurling next year and possibly just the two in football.

Yeah, the only "Gaels" team next year in senior hurling  will be Castletown if they can agree with Slieve Bloom.

In football, I presume the Ballyfin and Crettyard Gaels thing will be allowed.

The big losers last night would have been the likes of Ballyfin (hurling), Shanahoe, Colt and Ballypickas. Mountmellick football too will have to stand up on their own two feet next year.

Any word on new additions to the Laois panel for the O'Byrne cup?
Infuriating that our county board or website wouldn't even throw up a panel or something. We don't expect a starting 15 or anything.

I see our county board PRO got Leinster PRO of the year award and well deserved but there is plenty of room for improvement in some areas.

Kearns was unluck in trying to follow Micko.
Cribben was fierce hard done by.
Worst manager of them? Probably O'Flaharta.
I'd give Lillis a pass on the "prophet in his own country" thing. He never stood a chance and the players acted the f**k that year too.

If this thing goes through with Abbeyleix and Ballinakill, will Ballyfin be spared relegation? Thus, allowing the Mountmellick lads to stay part of the amalgamation.

Would have liked to have seen the Meath game played somewhere other  than Portlaoise particularly at this time of year. Lots of options around the county with the facilities required to host an O'Byrne Cup match of a December night .
It probably will be outside O'Moore Park. That's been the pattern for a few years now. It's on a Saturday. With it being Meath, Portarlington makes most sense.

Hopefully you can add Ballinakill and surrounding areas before long.
South Laois Gaels has a nice ring to it.
