Games Manager with notice given in

Jason Coffey gone, taking up a new role
Conor Shannon gone, taking up a new role

Dispute with the County board and new head of S&C I believe,

We are left with one County GDA ( Football)

No new club GDA's being rolled out this year

A disaster , instead of getting better or trying to improve things we've hit the self destruct button,
I've said it before here, look across the border at what Offaly are doing with their coaching and games department, another huge victory for them today with the Offaly School Team project,

While our academy squads being run by lads that can't get a job in their clubs with no interest, oversight , planning or forward thinking from County Board and little from the coaching office.

Rumours circulating from our Football & Hurling Academy Squads that our Coaching and Games office / staff in disarray with a number of pending departures

Awful Pity to see & damaging for our County, with Offaly and all around us making great strides forwards, backwards at a rate of knots we are going.

Latest Rumour Mill -

Ballacolla - Still Searching after Laffins departure, names of Dj Carey, Eamonn Corcoran ( JK Brackens ) Mick Fennelly all being tried, should be an attractive position to fill

Camross - David Cuddy staying on, with new coach on board

Borris Kilcotton - Pj Delaney from Johnstown, previous St Mullins Manager with a Delahunty fella coaching from Kilkenny

Rathdowney Errill - Martin Power Kilkenny, coach to be confirmed

Castletown - David Cuddy / John Sullivan staying on

The Harps - Alan Guilfoyle, Harps Club man took over last year when Ollie Baker left with Ross Young
doing the S&C

Rosenallis - Gone back to Roscrea man Dan Kilmartin who managed them before I believe

Abbeyleix- Pj Peacock taking over from Derek Dunne

Ballinakill - One of their own, former Ballyfin football manager Killian Fitzpatrick

Portlaoise - Tommy Fitzgerald, great move by Portlaoise getting Tommy home from St Thomas

Our Coaching & Games department currently not good or active enough with initiatives,
Offaly again today recruiting brilliantly appointing Damien Coleman as Operations manager, the man behind all of Galway's underage success.

Yes they are pumping money in, but it's being done wisely and theirs a buzz around them, we have plenty of money too,

Talk of the renewed Setanta programme is only piece meal, academy squads have no buzz or direction about them, the overall organisation of the squads is so poor compared even just to Offaly never mind the bigger counties
Simple ideas like the combined schools, more club workshops, academy squad gear, more games, more promotion on social media
Offaly's initiatives around development squads, faithful fields, coaching initiatives are much more active than ours, and getting much more buy on from coaches, players, parents & clubs

Similar on the likes of Wexford, cork, Meath, Kilkenny

What is the actual role of the county board coaching officer when we have a games manager ?

I don't agree with Senior Club teams spending a fortune on outside managers, but poor intermediate & Junior Clubs paying someone to come in and coach a team is crazy.

Ballacolla hoping to hold onto Laffan if they can agree on someone to hold the ropes til he comes back after Tipp are out
David Cuddy looking for reappointment in Camross but facing some internal competition, agm this weekend
Rathdowney Errill have appointed last years Lisdowney manager Martin Power, looking for a coach to work with him
Borris Kilcotton should be ratifying a former Inter County manager next week
Castletown staying the same
Abbeyleix staying the same
Harps on the hunt in Kilkenny circles
Rosenallis on the hunt

Delay in ratifying Maher is a worry
I think it would be a good appointment, would there be any chance he could bring David Franks on board, Ballygunners coach
Both Maher & Franks living in Kilkenny, top class coach

With Laois selectors / coaches from Arien Delaney, Tommy Fitz. Seamus Dwyer, Ciaran Comerford, Eamon Jackman, with one of these being the U20 manager

Very poor form of the Clough Ballacolla club not to fulfill either club semi finals this weekend, hiding behind 'player welfare'
All of the other clubs with dual players & Senior / premier intermediate/ intermediate teams all able to fulfill their fixtures
Complete disrespect to the competition & other Laois Gaa clubs
