So you should only buy a season ticket if you are guaranteed success? Arsenal is a London club, supply and demand, socioeconomic conditions, quality of stadium are also a factor in the price of a season ticket.

Of course you shouldn't buy a ticket on the basis of success but I feel it is totally unfair that they continue to rise season on season. This new scheme basing prices on the 'quality' of opposition is a farce. Of course the stadium has to be paid for but not at the expense of the ordinary working fan. Arsenal could very easily find themselves in the position of Liverpool very shortly if they were to lose out on CL spot this year. The whole thing is just extremely frustrating!!

Arsenal are in a transition period and have been now probably since 2005/2006, whether Wenger is the the right man to lead them out of the transition who knows but better the devil you know and all that. Arsenal are competing for 4th spot and have been the last 6 years, it always amuses me that so many Arsenal fans seem to have this ludicrous notion of entitlement and that they should be challenging for league honours. If they know their history of Arsenal they should be aware that this trophy drought is nothing new. Arsenal have a mortgage to pay and only when that mortgage is paid will they have a chance to compete and only then if FFP delivers a somewhat even playing field. And if FFP doesn't deliver Arsenal under the current model of ownership will not compete with the money making machine Man United or the 2 billionaire play things and will probably be surpassed by QPR or some other play thing in the near future.

I take on board everything you are saying Dinny but that still doesn't explain the lack of fight and passion in the Arsenal teams of the last 7+ years. Constantly getting rolled over and bullied out of it against United/Chelsea and the likes. I am convinced that Wenger has instilled a French mentality into the whole club and it is killing us from the inside out. Constant silly errors by defenders and goalkeepers for years now. Explain to me how a team like Borrusia Dortmund can be assembled for a snippet of the price of the current Arsenal squad and yet fight and die for their club and manager. Gazidis, Hill-Wood and Kroenke are bleeding the club dry and making a nice bonus' in the process. The fans do have a right to expect better when they pay the most expensive tickets in the league!!

Sick to the teeth of everything to do with Arsenal FC these days. Used to be a huge fan of Wenger but this past few years have been like a nightmare version of groundhog day. Christ I'm that depressed I don't even know where to begin. From the snakes running the club to some of the shit that's on the field. I used to hate nasri and rvp. Now i don't even blame them for leaving!! #WENGEROUT

Giving heavy rain for Sunday afternoon. Don't know about Ballinderry but this will def not suit Errigal's style of football.  :-\

Frig that, hoping to head to the game. Shamrocks know how to mix it in all weather. Ballinderry by 2!!

Twitter is going mad with reports that Song is already gone. Will be announced on Monday. To be honest I'm not overly bothered as he dallys in possession too much. I'd love to see M'Villa bought but think they will get Sahin on loan and Wenger will promote Coqelin to be the holding midfielder!

Song despite all his assists is a complete liability at defending. This was evident in that amount of goals that Arsenal shipped when Arteta got injured. It was his discipline that made Song look good!

Totally agree GBB. I heard the fee was 15 million plus add on's. Sick of this selling within England business. Its hard to know whether Wenger sanctions these moves or his hands are tied by the board. Given the fact that he is such an intelligent economist makes me think its his call. If the likes of Llorente or even Clint Dempsey was signed I'd be happy enough but honestly can't see that happening! Huge pressure on Podolski and Giroud to start well now!

Yeah read a few blogs and a similar statement was released prior to Nasri being sold last year.

Got this from Arseblog. Take it they are referring to City!

It is reported that the club had no idea van Persie was releasing a statement today and were rather blindsided by the captain's online declaration which was drafted for him by lawyers and agents.

What could have been a civilised, if difficult, situation now looks as if it's going to get nasty as speculation over the need to release such a divisive statement mounts. Will this make the club dig their heels in and hold him to his final year or will the remarks about the 'fundamental disagreements' mean van Persie's position becomes untenable?
It seems a real shame that Robin, who claims to love the club and care for the fans, has gone about this in such a disrespectful manner, and it looks as if the reason behind it is to force a move to a club that he couldn't go to without a fight. And I think we all know which club that is.

Meanwhile, Mark Gonnella, the club's Director of Communications, has denied that Ivan Gazidis is away on two weeks holiday, saying, "Ivan is not on a two week holiday. Such things do not exist for Chief Executives at football clubs or anywhere else."
So you'd have to ask why van Persie made reference to that in his statement, if not to cause trouble.
What a shame this all is

Club statement: Robin van Persie

Arsenal Football Club has issued the following statement with regard to Robin van Persie's future:

"

We have to respect Robin's decision not to renew his contract. Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfil his commitments to the Club.

"We are planning with ambition and confidence for next season with Arsenal's best interests in mind."

Interesting quote there. I've thought for a while now that they will keep him until Jan then sell to Juve!

Arsenal hit back. They expect him to stick it out for another season.

You know things are grim when the best (only?) consolation for the loss of your star player is a silly dig at your rivals...

You kill me. "Rivals". Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Where you haer this???

Try the Irish Times bar. Was in it last year for the N.A.C.B finals. Great spot and barman is a sound fella from Galway!!
