Have we any regular posters on here who are structural engineers?

Maybe someone who could do some steel calculations from time to time for building control applications at a competitive price?

"Dispatches investigates the use of both recreational and performance-enhancing substances in our national game.

Reporter Antony Barnett examines football's drug-testing regime, raises questions about how the sport deals with its drug cheats and also looks at the use of some bizarre but legal treatments players undergo."

This could be interesting tonight (channel 4, 8pm). I wonder if they will name the high profile, multi- million pound player who failed a drugs test before being transferred.

I just opened a bottle of poitín that someone gave me a few years ago.  Does it lose it's kick? I drank a couple of shots and never felt a touch yet, just a taste of plum.

There was a bit about this on UTV yesterday.  Some of the results would definitely help decide where you go for something to eat.

A British woman has been beheaded in a shop in Spain's Canary Islands, officials say.

Spanish media said a homeless Bulgarian man had been arrested in the town of Los Cristianos.

Witnesses said a man entered a Chinese supermarket in a shopping centre and stabbed then beheaded the 62-year-old woman. He is said to have dropped the head outside before being tackled.

A local official said the man appeared to choose his victim at random.

Witnesses said the man entered the Chinese supermarket in Valdes Shopping Centre and attacked the woman without saying a word.

"Apparently this gentleman without any motive or any reason... entered the shop and then cut this woman's neck and took the head in his hand outside," said local councillor Manuel Reveron.

A security guard then managed to wrestle the man to the ground, he said.

"I parked my car and saw a man running out with something bloody in his hands and a security guard chasing him," one witness was quoted as telling local radio.

"He threw it to the ground, it almost hit me and what he had been carrying was a woman's head."

In a video posted on YouTube, Colin Kirby of Tenerifemagazine.com said security guards held down the suspect until the police arrived.

"The security and the police had to hold people off - they were queuing up - they were trying basically to kick the hell out of the guy," he said.

Police sources told Spanish media the suspect had a police record.

Does anyone use this as part of their Gmail?

I just logged onto it there now and all of my notes have been erased.  They have also deleted off my Iphone as well, presumably as the two of them are synced.

Has anyone here had this problem or more importantly does anyone know how I would get them back?

Any help would be greatly appreciated  ???

Is anyone else here having difficulties loading up pages on here?  Pages seem to be taking excessively long to load up for me.  It's only on this forum though.  Any other web pages I've open load up without any problem.

Lads and Lassies

Friends of mine have released their debut single this week "Take me there".  We are hoping to get them into the top 40 singles charts for Sunday.  If any of you kind people would care to help, the single can be downloaded from ITunes.  It doesn't help their cause that a load of England football songs are being re-released this week either.   >:(

If any of you want to hear what they sound like the video can be watched on:

General discussion / Noel Gallagher Quits Oasis
August 28, 2009, 11:40:08 PM
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8228053.stm

Noel Gallagher has announced he is quitting rock band Oasis because he can no longer work with his brother Liam.

Noel, the founding member of the band, made the statement on the band's website. He said a series of rows with his brother led to the decision.

The guitarist said: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.

"People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan," he added.

'Gutted'

Earlier it was announced the band had cancelled their second gig in the space of a week because of "an altercation within the band".

They had been expected to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, but fans at the concert were told by the support band that Oasis would not be performing.

Many of the crowd thought it was a joke - until screens at either side of the stage showed the message "as a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled".

Oasis fans used Twitter to respond to the news that lead guitarist Noel had quit the band.

'Worst day ever'

PsychedelicAdam posted: "Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis? Gutted, no more Oasis then I guess, they were one of my favourite bands."

Wolvolass said: "I feel sick, sooo many good memories and gigs seeing Oasis over the years."

MattGriffin added: "This is the worst day ever."

On Sunday the band had also cancelled their headline slot at the V Festival in Essex after Liam was diagnosed with viral laryngitis.

They performed in Stafford on Saturday but the singer was advised by doctors not to perform again.

Lads I just watched about an hour of the most horrible Star Wars episode ever, The Holiday Special.  Apparently George Lucas actually burnt the reel after it was screened in America because he was so embarrassed.  It horrendous.  here's an opening clip, but be warned, it's terrible, Chewys son, wife and father are also in it

Goody joins Indian version of Big Brother
14/08/08

Jade Goody is going into the Indian Big Brother house, it emerged today.

The reality TV star, 27, whose career nosedived following last year's Celebrity Big Brother race row, is preparing for this weekend's launch.

The show features 12 Indian celebrities and is hosted by Shilpa Shetty, 33, the Bollywood star who won the hearts of viewers after being bullied by Goody and other housemates.

Goody, a mother-of-two, is thought to be earning up to £100,000 (€125,660) for her appearance on the show, called Bigg Boss.

A source said: "Jade would like to prove that she's not a racist.

"When she was first approached, she was a little apprehensive. She doesn't know how viewers and housemates might react. Now she's looking forward to it."

Ofcom received more than 50,000 complaints about Goody, Danielle Lloyd and former S Club singer Jo O'Meara's alleged racist bullying, with Goody referring to Shetty as "Shilpa Poppadom".

After Goody was evicted, she said she was "embarrassed and disgusted" by her own behaviour in the house but denied she was a racist.

Goody's money-spinning contracts dried up – her perfume, Shh..., was taken off the shelves and publishers decided to drop a paperback edition of her autobiography.

Gordon Brown, who was then Chancellor, was forced to defend Britain as a "country of fairness and tolerance" and the TV star visited India, where her effigy had been burnt during the race row.

'Cottaging' closes campus toilets
By Johnny Caldwell
BBC News

The toilet block is in Queen's main library (tower to the left and back)
A male toilet block at Queen's University in Belfast has been closed for more than two years over fears it was being used for 'cottaging'.

Cottaging is a slang term for gay sex in a public toilet or using such a facility to arrange sex elsewhere.

The university even considered installing CCTV in the toilet block in the basement of its main library.

The final straw was an e-mail sent to some students from an external bulletin board, advertising the 'venue'.

"I understand that this problem has been going on a number of years," said a member of Queen's staff in an e-mail from March 2006 obtained by BBC News.

"I would suggest that we lock the toilets at night, but I have heard that this also happens during the day. CCTV could be the answer, but we would have to be careful about where we locate cameras."

Another staff e-mail read: "An e-mail was sent to a number of QUB students advertising the basement of the main library tower as a rendezvous point for gay men.

Spot checks

"There have been suspicions of similar misuse of these facilities over the years and they have been closed for periods and spot checked by security staff at other times.

"Since this incident we have kept the toilets locked but are looking at a longer term management strategy. We are considering removing some of the cubicles."

In February of this year, following an article in a student newspaper, the Gown, the university denied that the closure was linked to concerns over cottaging.

The toilet block has been closed for more than two years

After BBC News obtained the above e-mails and others, the university released the following statement: "The toilets within the university's main library remain closed for a number of reasons.

"These include, among other things, an over-supply of toilets within the library building; their poor state of repair; and the university's plans to provide improved toilet facilities within the new Anthony O'Reilly Library (currently under construction)."
