GAA Discussion / Re: NFL Div 4 2019

Promotion confirmed. There won't be a cow milked between the Shannon and the Ocean. Tullaghan for the Ocean and Rooskey for the river.

Bookmakers up to mischief.  Same stunt last week at the RoT malarkey. Smoke and daggers as someone once said.

It's fairly simple lads, they crossed the whitewash, turned ahead, had the opportunity to close it out and choked.
Now the O'Sé incident has a part to play, but the subsequent "foal on the course" scenario is mystifying.
Had Keegan "bullied" his way forward, like Gary Sice or his ilk, then the Dubs were dusted....

Players to blame imo

Good one Sid. A Roaster sighting is all that's missing.

The amusing issue here is the input/opinions of supporters who's counties are no longer involved. As one from 1 of those counties, I'd gladly go to Limerick or wherever, in the aspiration of reaching the AI Final.
The decision regarding a possible replay was known to both sides before throw-in. The GAA aren't Iarinroid Eireann or the Cork County Board, a huff isn't acceptable. It's Limerick, Coldrick is off the case, HQ rules, on a Saturday, on TV, still August, what's not to like....

Cormac Reilly is reffing the Mayo Cork game
Meath Armagh reffed by Rory Hickey
David Coldrick is taking Monaghan Kildare and
Kerry Galway reffed by Eddie Kinsella

Many thanks for that NBTD.

Anyone know what referees are doing these games at the weekend. Are Zig and Zag operating at any meaningful/dangerous level.

What about club teams that play in a neighbouring county?

How many of these are true:

Graiguecullen (Laois) play in Carlow

Part of Graiguecullen is in Carlow, the majority of the parish is in Laois. They began their football existence in Laois but because of distance issues competed in Carlow for about 25 years up to and including the C/Final of 1926 which was marred by unruly scenes  :-X They then relocated once again to Laois and have remained there since. So to answer the initial query,
it's a no on this one.

Willie/Billy Goodison of Wexford was the only ever married man to play in a Leinster Minor Final (Football).

Vin Baston (Waterford) refereed the 1945 hurling final prior to playing on the winning team of 1948.

Okrim is an hard place to get out of, almost as hard as to get into. I wonder why nobody calls it by it's proper title. *
As a point of order, can anyone give me the name of the so-called Wexford Park.....

*O'Byrne Park.

GAA Discussion / Re: Who invented the solo
July 05, 2014, 12:40:08 AM
Among the 1st. to adapt/adopt and perfect it was Iggy Jones of Tyrone in the mid-fifties. Apologies, I can't go back any further but Jones was quite skillful and made good use of it.
In latter years (90's) Gerry Flanagan, the abrasive Leitrim wing-back, added another dimension to it. As he scurried forward, swatting away half-hearted "tackles" from lesser abrasive Rossies, Gerry would occasionally allow his arms to drop, simulating a solo-attempt, as his outstretched left arm indicated "Forward Lads"....

Syferus will provide a more biased view of what's commonly known as "The Gerry Flanagan Solo"..... 8)

Moysider says it all - "Sport is sport"...Good luck to all later on today, may the best team win a sporting game, devoid of rancour or blackguardly acts of trickery.

What a load of crap, Roscommon are miles behind mayo, will ya stop making ridiculous statements or have ya any shame

He might have/hasn't any shame, but he has pride and a small smidgeon of belief in his beloved Primrose and Blue.
Every club/county man carries that image - of overturning the weight of adversity in his heart till the day he dies.
If we hadn't that little bitéén of braggadacio to put forward we may as well peg our collective caps at it.

The Rossies are, as the man says, up agin' it, but their followers here have fought a brave and bullish fight and are (even the Rhubarbs will concur) entitled to a modicum of respect.

You're new here, like myself, take care.
