I think it means the teams that finished in the same position as the niners, i.e. 2nd.

San Francisco 49ers tipped for British NFL fixture
by Tim Love

San Francisco 49ers will be the home team for one of this year's two NFL games to be held in Britain, according to reports in the United States.

The 49ers have strong support in the UK because of their success in the 1980s.

The agreement is being finalised in New York, with the Philadelphia Eagles rumoured to be their opponents.

"If we're going to play in a parking lot or if we're play in London, we're going to play a football game," said 49ers head coach Mike Singletary.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat newspaper has reported the 49ers are keen to play a 'home' game in London before they move to a new stadium in San Francisco in time for the start of the 2014 season.

The 49ers gained a large following in the UK during the 1980s when they won four Super Bowls at a time when the sport was enjoying great popularity amongst British fans.

In 2007 the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins in the first regular season NFL game to be played in the UK before a sell-out crowd at Wembley.

Following on from this success the NFL committed to playing regular season games in the UK, and 83,226 people watched the 2008 encounter between the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints.

The New England Patriots beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of an 84,254 crowd at last year's event, which led to the announcement that two games would be staged in Britain in 2010.

I really hope it is the eagles, had the pleasure of going to a couple of their home games when I lived there and their support is amazing!

I sure more Eagles fans would travel than 49'ers just based on the distance they would have to travel to get there!

Right who is going to win this weekend?? Here's my picks:

Patriots - Ravens,
Tough one to call but I'm going with the Ravens. Without Welker there will be more pressure in Brady's face. Ravens aren't quite as strong as last year but I think they can do enough.

Jets-Bengals,
Last Sunday's mauling puts a new perspective on this one. Ignoring last weekend, you'd put the Bengals above the Jets any day of the week. And I dont think the Bengals will play as bad again but the way the Jets running game carved them up has raised alot of question marks. Jets for me.

Eagles-Cowboys
The Cowboys came through December looking quite strong, they blew the Eagles appart last week and just beat them earlier in the season. While the Eagles have shown some explosive offense its not going to be enough,  I think the Cowboys will beat them a 3rd time.

Packers-Cardinals
The Cardinals were a different team when they got to the play-offs last year, but its hard to make the same case for them this year. Week 13 win over the Vikings shows their potential but a week later they fell heavily to the 49ers. So will the real Arizona please stand up? The Packers have improved as the season went on are a very respectable 11-5. They've already trounced the Cards in Phoenix Stadium no less than a week ago and I think they'll do it again.

The Who are Superbowl halftime entertainment. And there is a load of shit being kicked up about that.

It's hard to believe three of these wildcard games were also played last week. I think we'll see three similar outcomes in terms of results but expect much closer games. So Jets, Packers and Cowboys for me. Dallas and Phil are like two peas in a pod in that they have similar form lines and can be unpredictable, but I'd much rather have Romo on my side at this stage and his side are in good form.
Much like the Packers who are hitting form at the right time. The Jets will find it mch tougher against the bengals this week and this could be the closest match of the four.

I'm gonna take the Patriots to beat the Ravens. Another tight one possibly, but the Pats might just have enough. But wouldn't fancy them next week.

Bungles, Eagles, Packers and Ravens for me

Also Pete Carroll has left USC and is taking the now vacant head coach spot in Seattle

Yep - and the Jets as well

I never thought he would go back to the NFL. He was probably as well paid as most NFL head coaches when he was at USC.

The Eagles got an awful hammering last week in Dallas - what do you reckon for the rematch ???

Can't see the Eagles playing as badly, Cowboys are strong but then they haven't won a playoff game in 13 years which may play on their minds. Eagles will probably have learnt more from the game than Dallas.
