The Portugal exemption seems very strange, is there a political slant to this?

Portugal is NOT exempt. The rest of the countries are.

I meant Portugal's exemption from the list of countries that you are allowed to go to, without 14 day quarantine. Grammar not my strong point  :)

Portugal has a significant number of cases, the only us is whether you could have so e regionalisation of restrictions.

The Algarve has had only 15 deaths since the outbreak, Lisbon has suffered the most, the spikes are largely confined to one area..

Is it true the Transport sec in Spain on holidays?

Shapps (who they've been wheeling out for almost everything for the last few weeks) was either in Spain or on his way to Spain at the time of the communication.

what period is this? the number of deaths in March or April is neither here nor there at this stage.

Portugal was a place where they did a great job of keeping the peak down in the worst of it, but then didn't reduce that sufficiently subsequently.

What morons  put their heads together and insert Greenland on the green list, perhaps inspired by the name?
And then not have Iceland and  the Faroes on the list, about the only two european countries where for the last 6 weeks you get tested on arrival, result sent by sms afer a few hours, follow-up test after 4 or 5 days included in the service and both countries virtually virus free with no restrictions in place.
The only way to travel to/from Greenland via a clean certified 'green' path is by using the St Brendan boat route.

The green list list is just a list of countries the government says you can visit and not quaratine when you return. Why are people deliberately making it complicated?

Nowhere did the government make it compulsory to visit Greenland or any other country on the list

Eh, is it too complicated for you D7?    I'll try again though I'll suspend expectation.
It's absurd to place Greenland on the list as there's no direct travel  and if non-direct travel routes are okay to be on the green list, then why not not Iceland or Faroes?  What possessed the morons to place Faroes and Iceland on the second list?

It isn't rocket science, the list is not based on travel routes, it is based on the number of cases recently. Not too hard to understand.

Exactly. The list only takes account of the level of Covid 19 infections and no of cases in each country. How you get there from Ireland is completely irrelevant.

I'd say the UK is playing it's Quarantine cards as part of its Brexit negotiations approach at this stage.

NAG1

Bojo warning of the beginning of a second wave on the continent, so might not just be Brexit pushing them on this one.

He has to appear to be strong now with the idea of an investigation into the handling of the crisis hanging over the government. Plays well to the home audience as how do they reckon they can enforce it realistically?
