Would an acceptance of Jarlaths proposal be an abandonment of the core priniciples of the G.A.A. While the association is avowedly non sectarian and non party political it is founded on clear nationalist principles ie. the support for a 32 Co.soveriegn irish republic the promotion of irish culture  , games ,language, dance etc. and the fostering of a national irish conscienceness. These principles were clearly stated by the founders in 1884 and have been reiterated in every official guide published since.

If our Co.Board had any wit they would be begging Pete to return, though whether he would after the shabby disgraceful way he was treated is another point. Continuing with Mc Corry is the road to nowhere

Why is Mc Corry still there. If he had any integrity he would at least resign and re-apply for post

If you have no presence in the middle third of the field you do not win football games. If you have a manager who cant see that or fails to address it we will not win football games. If we go on making the same mistakes we cant expect different results. Next year we will be heading into the championship with a losing mentality arising from a series of beatings in Div.1 and relegation. Where are the positives. I dont believe there are better footballers in the county that are not in the current panel. Minors and U21s are largely failing to produce any talent.

Joes exposition on the Sunday  Game re. where the GAA is at, and the unrealistic demands being made on amateur players, was the best analysis i have heard yet, and deserves serious debate at all levels within the association up too and including congress. We are drifting away from our charter and our roots, towards an elitist professional ideal which will not serve our association well

Realistically we need to write this season off, then get rid off Mc Corry who should never have been appointed in the first place. I would not question his commitment, but his lack of ability is plain for all to see.

We live in crazy times. We are an amateur association based on the spirit of volunteerism. Any commitment asked of club members be they players or officials should acknowledge and be guided by that fact. A manager who seeks payment is a mercenary who should be shown the Door. Attempts to justify payments by extending their job description far beyond that which is necessary, is merely a ploy. Has the modern day addiction to advanced training methods produced better footballers, i see no evidence of that.
The beating Heart of any Club is its local volunteers, with their pride of place and sense of community. A Clubs success can not be measured in Trophies, indeed some of the most active and effective clubs are rarely winners on the field of play. Too recognise the contribution of one individual through monetary payment, demeans and denigrates the equally valid and important contribution of the volunteer who may put in as many hours on Club business. Lets get back to cutting our Suit according to our cloth, before we destroy ourselves

There is no slave worse than the one who kisses his chains, and we have a lot of that type on this forum. Basically Brain Dead individuals

Money would be better spent on a dedicated GAA channel, rather than the farcical International Rules series

Fair enough assessment speculative, but what is it that leads you believe Mc Corry is the Man capable of producing a winning team. Certainly nothing in his CV to date, other than Co. Championships with Kilcoo, whom my Granny could have succeeded with given the poor standard of Club football in Down at present.

I want to watch Footballers, not super bulked up athletes devoid of basic skills. Time to stop this madness, which is destroying the whole character of our sport
