Both teams won't make much impact whoever comes out on top!
Ballina that came out on top. Can imagine one of the other town teams (Westport,Castlebar) will win the Mayo title.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Any manager worth his salt will have prepared plenty of challenge games against teams in neighbouring counties if their leagues are completed

Will hardly prepare teams right for provincial knock out championship.

Not much time for teams still playing to have friendlies either. Bit of a mess working it like that tbh.

Ah sure then, they'll just head to the pub!

Let's take Antrim county as an example, every week you'll have football one week hurling the next, single code teams would take a challenge game (I've ref'd these in the past) the week they aren't playing.

I don't think any teams that win will be sitting doing nowt.

the master fixtures need looked at, for sure but that county final today the county clubs obviously agreed to it.

Wexford had the same system last year. Played the Hurling championship first and then football.

Rossfan

As far as I recall the Wexford clubs were presented with a choice between the current system or alternative weeks and they made the choice

It looks like it works in Wexford. The goal for the next while is bolstering the hurlers. Wexford is one of the few genuinely dual counties.

When was the last time a Wexford hurling club made a fist of the Leinster club championship? Only Oulart the Ballagh spring to mind and that was quite a few years ago.

Yes, a lot of clubs are genuine dual clubs but how is finishing you club championship in late July and then not lifting a hurl in anger for a few months any way to prepare for a tilt at a Leinster club championship?

You would think that having the football first would make more sense in terms of giving the best overall chance for both winners in Leinster as hurling touch/sharpness seems to drop much quicker than football touch if you stop playing from a few weeks.

Rossfan

Maybe no one in Wexford gives a hoot about Leinster Club hurling Championships.
Only 3 Clubs get to play in them.

Wexford club hurling has great tradition in the club series Buffer's winning one and St Anne's Rathure losing 5!! So I'd say they are well focused on Leinster but its so hard to win them.

Though could say The Rossies don't give a hoot about the club football either  ;D
