The Sigerson isn't knockout this year, so won't have major consequences.

In hiding

UUJ have a bye in the next round.
Only need to win one game to make the quarter finals, which is the same as NUIG

Serious result for MTU Kerry (formerly IT Tralee) to beat UCD today by 5 in Tralee. Tony Brosnan and Jack Savage impressive up front apparently. The fact that both of them were asked to travel to Templetuohy for a meaningless trouncing of Tipp in McGrath cup this evening - and both came on - is actually disgraceful really and utterly pointless.

MTU Cork (CIT) beat UCC for the first time ever in Sigerson. Was at it and it was a decent quality game, tough and played in freezing fog. The 2 MTU's now meet in the winners round next Tuesday in Cork. UCC v UCD in losers round could be a humdinger. UCC missing a few big players tonight might shade it if they can get some of those lads back on the field.

I remember both playing minor for Kerry 10 years ago. Are they back in college doing their masters?

Absolutely ridiculous situation in this game not to have basic medical assistance available, so much for player welfare. Serious questions for the Sigerson organisers.
That was a complete and utter shambles!  Not even a stretcher available to remove him from the pitch FFS!!

NUIG really stepped it up in the second half with the introduction of a number of very influential subs, especially Sean Kelly.  He scored a great goal in what has been a very good week for him personally with him being appointed the Galway captain for the coming year.

In fairness UUJ only scored one point in the second half!

Maybe so but you can't make a decision to blow a game early when there's only a kick of a ball in it. What a farce.

A complete farce indeed. I've never heard of a game being blown up early due to an injury and the result standing!
I've heard of game abandoned and replayed or a draw given but awarding a game to the team on the highest score. What rule states that as a solution?

As to the fact that the poor lad lay on the pitch for 40mins. What ground doesnt have a stretcher? They had a set of a quarter of a million euro lights, but no stretcher? The organisers should be in the dock on this.

skeog

UUJ showed a spirit of sportsmanship conceding the game.

Brought on at the last weren't they? Manager should have the jaws slapped off him for that one total disgrace.

At the last waterbreak - both got 15 mins each having already played a match earlier that day & Kerry were up by about 15 points. Don't really see the sense in it myself. They didn't do the same with David Clifford anyway

the goal was on

and for years we had to listen to paddy tally crying about respect for sigerson and college players !!

Janey, you would think UCD could find fellows able to score more than 6 points. Has Brian Mullins retired?
