That's just a snapshot of the podcast. Dion came back in and suggested that Liverpool would be more community based. And the conversation went on. I think you'd need to listen it all to get it in context. I listened to it a few days ago and as a complete podcast he doesn't come across as offensive.

I hate the way Joe eulogizes about football and hurling then totally dismisses every other sport including soccer and cricket yesterday.

How has Dion stuck it so long with him.

Yes because no funeral of a young GAA player who died in tragic circumstances has ever brought a town to a standstill with an outpouring of grief and flags.
Joe is some dose.
Of course he managed to squeeze in his 3 favourite subjects into the point he was making - Thatcher, Farage and Brexit. Im just suprised the DUP aren't thrown in as well.

Over 50 years of age and closely involved in transplant advocacy I'd say Joe knows that grief and been to a few more funerals of young GAA people than you. He didn't say that the death of a young GAA person hasn't brought a town or village to a standstill. At least I didn't hear that.

Did you not?

"It was a very quiet local funeral. It was exactly like if there was a young footballer in Dungiven or Knockmore who had died in a car crash. It was sober and there was no big musical display. It was exactly what you'd expect from a country funeral."

Quote from: Jim Bob on June 09, 2025, 05:15:36 PMI listen to the podcast most weeks and I have noticed that even though it is supposed to be a discussion between two people on the topics of the day Joe is speaking the vast majority of the time. When Dion wants to make a point and Joe wishes to speak Joe interrupts Dion and talks over him until Dion eventually gives way. Joe isn't the greatest listener in the world !
Have you only noticed this  ;D

Eh no!!!

Derry should call his bluff and appoint him manager... I need a good laugh.

I suppose is how you hear it... you can have a 'quiet' and 'sober' funeral that brings a town or village to a halt with 'no musical display'.
I took that to mean a quiet dignified funeral rather than the likes of Lady Di (which he mentioned) with the streets lined with people shouting out and throwing flowers at the hearse.
In Liverpool (albeit Jota's funeral wasnt there), it was more a big public display of crowds singing and rows and rows of floral tributes laid out.
If you want to be offended by Brolly you'll find something.

He doesn't want it, and the people of Derry don't want him as manager. Joe lives rent-free in a lot of ye lads' heads and I'm sure he loves it.

I don't  get  the  public outpouring of grief when  the likes of a royal dies. Thousands of bouquets of flowers. Why?

Why don't they encourage people, instead of buying flowers  that  will just sit there and rot , to donate money to  a charity? Or in the case  of a tragedy, donate  to a fund  that will help the families affected.

Who benefited most from Diana's death? I'm convinced she was taken out by a hitman hired by Interflora.
