That's a key point, I'd doubt there is a significant difference in fitness levels between any serious football team but when you lose fellas can always point to one or two instances where they saw some players 'struggling'.

Well that's almost impossible to tell from the outside, all you can go on is results and that is a poor yardstick on which to judge a man's managerial or coaching ability.
