Quote from: Aaron Boone on Today at 12:35:57 AMGalway to edge it for me 3-29 to 1-34.

Including the extra time and replay, presumably.
You might be right.

Quote from: Blowitupref on July 25, 2024, 11:03:01 PMOne change for Armagh with Connaire Mackin coming in for Peter McGrane.

Armagh: Blaine Hughes; Paddy Burns, Aaron McKay, Barry McCambridge; Connaire Mackin, Tiernan Kelly, Aidan Forker; Niall Grimley, Ben Crealey; Joe McElroy, Rian O'Neill, OisínConaty; Rory Gurgan, Andrew Murnin, Conor Turbitt

Subs: Ethan Rafferty, Greg McCabe, Peter McGrane, Ciaran Higgins, Ross McQuillan, Shane McPartlan, Jason Duffy, Oisín O'Neill, Stefan Campbell, Aidan Nugent, Jarly Og Burns

Add a bit of height.

Omly Connaire Mackin 2nd championship start this year?  and the first Peter McGrane won't start.
Good call imo although harsh on McGrane.

McGrane is a faster player, perhaps he will have a role towards the end when this may be more fluid.

Quote from: lurganblue on July 26, 2024, 02:10:36 PMCheers folks.  I see there is a post doing the rounds with a right few trains going from Dundalk station.  That's an option I suppose, as long as it is legit.

Do they stop in Drumcondra or straight to Connolly?

Drumcondra is not on the Dundalk line, they go to Connolly.

Quote from: RedHand88 on July 26, 2024, 11:01:57 AMHarsh dropping Peter McGrane? Then again changes could be made before Sunday.

Taller man brought in, reflecting the relatively physical approach of Galway.

Quote from: Easttyrone23 on July 26, 2024, 12:20:05 AMI can understand for some people who don't necessarily have a club may find it difficult to get a ticket, although surely if you attend all of your counties games you would have bought a season ticket which would save you money over the season plus guarantee you an all Ireland final ticket? Anyone who is part of a club, if they put their time in and volunteered for their club over the years then they would be guaranteed a ticket.

The season ticket does not have a discount, but if you went to all games it would have saved the cost of the League Final, and it was extremely likely that Armagh was going to be in that final.
Of course even a keen fan does not go to all games, Cork was a stretch and everyone has one weekend when they are not available. So the season ticket costs extra in general, and most Armagh or Galway people were not confident of reaching the final.

They've changed the rules on season tickets. You only need to pay for 6 tickets to get an AIF ticket, and considering they were doing a 3 for 2 on the group stage tickets, getting a season ticket (if they are available) is a no brianer.

You were always able to opt out of one championship game, the 6 rule increases this to two for most counties. This is only really saving you money if you are away, as most people want to go to the championship games. The 3 for 2 was fine, except they limited the number of tickets so you might not get one and there was no mention of that when deciding to buy your season ticket last November.

Quote from: Mourne Red on July 25, 2024, 11:28:06 PMLucky enough to win a ticket in my club's draw. Will be driving down - anyone from past experience know what time to aim to be dublin for on AI day? Assume traffic will be as bad if not worse than Down/Armagh double header a few weeks ago

It shouldn't be worse. There were 40,000 Down and Armagh people on the road that day, there won't be more than that this time, unless the ticket gathering is especially successful.

Ireland messed up a bit there.
You'd need you shredded wheat for that game though.

Quote from: illdecide on July 25, 2024, 05:42:07 PMI would argue that Stefan would be the best equipped to break a tackle and go past his man therefore opening it up, it's  a myth that he can't last games or not fit enough. He played the second half and all of extra time against Kerry, i'm not doubting that he is a great man to bring on from the bench but maybe he can do it from the start too. He's experienced enough to know himself what to do on the pitch at the right times so I don't think there'll be too many eyebrows raised should be start

Boylesports have a bet on a number of points or more scored by Armagh subs. Not hard to see two or three points from subs. You could nearly guarantee that Stefan would score two and Oisin O'Neill one.

Quote from: samuel maguire on July 25, 2024, 02:01:53 PMQuit yapping about tickets - christ. If you want to be there badly enough you'd be there

Sammy, that's a grand big statement to come out with, one should be rightly be proud of, but Armagh Girl is right, surely it's easy enough to put a loyalty scheme in place, especially with the vast majority of tickets now online as QR codes from the same provider?
Club allocation should absolutely cover volunteers and members were possible

Loyalty scheme ... is that not the season ticket system?

It's the usual yearly argument here ... who has priority (A) club volunteers who do the heavy lifting on the ground but maybe don't attend alot of county games (B) fanatics who never miss a county game but never cross the door of a club ... for me it's the club volunteer every time, no volunteers, no clubs, no counties.

As for those who never attend neither club or county but are getting tickets, well that's just sad that it happens.

For those are don't miss a county game, join the season ticket system and fork out 150 quid every year per adult and buy your championship tickets for every county game.  That's what I did and it feels good this year, cause I wouldn't want to be relying on the club to sort all of us out.

There are a couple of issues with the season ticket scheme. You essentially prepay for league tickets, which means that they limit the potential number of season tickets reflecting the capacity of grounds. There could also be championship games where the capacity would be a restriction. e.g. the Newbridge or nowhere thing.

It should be possible to give decent tickets to the season ticket holder, but also have a loyalty scheme which allocates some less popular seats on a loyalty basis. I would require club membership for both groups.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 25, 2024, 03:59:06 PMCan't decide who is going to win this, struggling with the match ups and tactically who's got the upper hand..

Could be very low scoring or high scoring, the average of 1-16 would be what I'd be hoping for as that would be an entertaining enough game for the neutral..

Would Armagh ones be happy with a score line of 1-16? Would that be enough?

Mayo, Dublin or Donegal did not score 1-16 against Galway. It would probably be enough.
If Armagh score a goal and Galway do not, then they might get over the line.

Pretty decent speech from Biden.
And a subtle message, I am not a King, I'll leave when the time comes, one that invites comparison with another president.
