What bugs me (amongst other things) is that Antrim will be locked out most days of the years.  Just my hunch, but I'll not be at all surprised.

Anyway, if England win the Euros and they all get carried away, there'll be a wee political window to get the money released as soccer will be the be all and end all for a while.

The Euros has been bang average but I really don't think Ireland would have got a look in if they'd been there.  So far behind.  He has his work cut out.

I think the Dutch will sit in and defend, and break very quick up the pitch at every opportunity as they've serious pace. Virgil will need to be at his best, he'll have a few clearances to make.  Scary stuff.

It's all got a wee bit pathetic.  Sinn Fein reps calling Hanna "performative" for taking the oath in Irish.  Eastwood butting in to say Derry when Robinson said Londonderry.
Our waiting lists are off the charts ffs.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 08, 2024, 03:22:51 PMSo with all those facts, why hasn't taken place and when do you think it will?

Will there still be a need for so of themuns to vote for a UI or will there be enough of ussuns to get it over the line?
Hard to tell. Turnout this time was a feeble 58%.  Would we assume turnout for a Border Poll would be much higher, in which case there are a hell of a lot of votes to play for and which are not understood.
Serious work is now needed to present the case economically, culturally and socially.
Saw three boneheads hanging Union Jacks last night in a very mixed area, and went home half in bad form and half thinking their days are numbered.

Clare must be licking their lips now with all the attention and praise being heaped on Cork.  Long time since I've seen a team being set up to fail as obviously as this. Personally I hope they win as I'd love to see Horgan and Harnedy win an All Ireland, but they'll have to do a lot of mental prep to reproduce yesterdays epic effort.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 08, 2024, 12:23:07 AMFrom the Derry goal, the ref give Derry little, watching the game bck here, and Ger Dillon pulled to the ground by the collar for a blatant free 25m out and the ref played on.

One man's blatent free is another man's fair tackle.
Not on that one.  He was dragged round the neck but the ref missed it. It would have been a crucial free in which would have given Derry a more comfortable finish to the game.

Can't understand why Armagh were so negative in the Ulster Final.  Much more balanced today, and what do you know, they're well in it.

Quote from: weareros on July 06, 2024, 02:46:08 PMCannot see Starmer ever granting border poll. He is unionist through and through. Now that the spineless yellow Scots are quietened he'll be all about the Union. His reference to all "4 nations" backing him shows what we are dealing with.
I cannot understand Scottish nationalism.  How was there a big surge for SNP and the associated constitutional change, and now they've all changed their minds and gone back to Labour? Are they really nationalists?

Quote from: Applesisapples on July 06, 2024, 10:31:40 AMI vote SF, I have no issue with the SDLP standing in all constituencies in General Elections. To be fair they put a nobody up in FST and from what Claire Hanna was saying they put resources into 3 seats only, Foyle, her own and South Down. I have had to work with all the political parties over the years, SF are always on message and get things done, the SDLP have more internal splits than Behan's republican agenda. Eastwood and Hanna are miles apart politically, and for a woman with roots in the West of Ireland she is more West Brit. The assertion that any MP from NI can do nay thing in parliament is a fantasy. Not two fcuks are given about this place. This election is more symbolic than useful. But one thing does concern me, why is the nationalist vote stuck on 40/41%? Where is the demographic change?

The Environment Minister has published his plan.
"Engagement" on sustainable farming.
A fund to "explore" solutions.
Sand dredging "review".
Enforcement "Taskforce".

Stormont is just a big embarrassing talking shop.  A merry band of civil servants will now knock ten years out of this, running them nicely up to their pension.  Same craic with Casement. God help us all.

Dropping knees, sneaky digs and boring as fcuk.  Lost a bit of respect for Derry today.

McKinless kneeling for the anthem, punching White in the face.  He just can't help himself.

Which does first: Lough Neagh, or Gaelic football?

Quote from: Spike on June 27, 2024, 03:56:58 PMHas Andy done enough for a 3rd year at the helm?

Two years so far of mediocre football but perhaps that qualifies as enough for an Antrim manager? His greatest success has been lowering our expectations to the extent we now have none with the new Tommy Cooper Cup the latest snake oil to be sold.
That, and of course filling his squads full of athletic but uninspiring players from clubs below the top 3 who have no chance of winning anything but keeps their supporters on his side. He has a great Public Relations game it has to be said.

He gets my vote! One more year!
We last won an Ulster Championship 73 years ago. Not sure why Andy is so far below your expectations.
