Lads, you'd be as well talking to the wall as trying to have a rational conversation with the Celtic crowd about their current standing relative to the EPL.

You're moving into a world where Celtic are a massive club just as long as you ignore their lack of TV money, a decent sponsorship deal, a decent manager or a decent league to play in. Massive club though, everyone says it.

A world where someone like Enda Stevens is a lower league plodder but Greg Taylor is a superstar plying his trade with one of the greats of European football. A world where an entire team that couldn't beat Ferencvaros, Cluj or even Kilmarnock a couple of weeks ago would walk into the Premier League and have their pick of clubs. Yet, despite that opportunity to double their wages or more, somehow, inexplicably, they happily play on for half the wages with Celtic and bizarrely no EPL teams show any interest in them.

It's a world where Rangers are a top half EPL team and Aberdeen, with only a tiny fraction of the resources, are somehow EPL standard as well. Where anyone who dares to suggest otherwise is an "EPL fanboy" or similar.

It's a whole different world lads, best to just leave them at it.

I feel sorry for Ronan as well, it's hard to believe he's dropped to sixth choice midfielder this year. However fair play to him for sticking in there as part of the panel and on the off chance that there are winners medals being distributed around the squad this weekend he is as deserving of one as any of them.

Cairde is a different scheme to the GAA season ticket so the attendance requirements are not the same. Obviously at €200 a pop it is not as good value as the GAA ticket (€75?) but it is sold as a direct contribution to Mayo football. Members have been able to avail of certain offers during the year - an official Mayo GAA jacket or two (quite popular), a discount voucher book (not so popular I think), an invite to the stadium opening in Castlebar and now the opportunity to buy a second ticket if they pay next years membership a few months early. Similar to the GAA ticket the seats in Croke Park are usually excellent.

From those I know who joined, they are happy enough with how the scheme has been run considering its the first year and feel they are supporting the county team financially in the process, which the GAA ticket doesn't do so much. The opportunity to buy two tickets for the final is obviously the biggest bonus so far over the GAA scheme.

That is most certainly not touting - it is a good way of rewarding genuine supporters and raising cash up front for Mayo GAA in the process. I would imagine that most 'cairde' members will be happy to take up this offer as they would be renewing next year anyway (unless they have short term cash flow issues). The offer has no bearing on next year's allocation regardless of how well or poorly Mayo do in 2013 as far as I know.

The game is on Sunday September 2nd. It really will depend on how much better Dublin will be than they have been so far in the championship. From what I have seen of them (Wexford and Laois games) they are not playing great. But they are All-Ireland champions and are therefore clearly capable of much better. If they bring their 'A' game they will be hard beaten, if they continue the way they have played so far there will be hope for Mayo, even without Andy.

However, in terms of going all the way, without Andy as per Tubberman's post above our chances are very slim.

Two big surprises in the Connacht/Munster minor matches. You really never can tell with minors, it can be just how it turns out on the day. Dublin will be hard beaten but this weekends results so far show that nothing is guaranteed at this level. Hard luck Roscommon.

I guess we become the Munster champions now for the purposes of the semi-final pairings, which would put us against the winners of Tyrone v Meath. As we lost the Connacht Final we're probably looking at the minors playing their semi on the day of the semi-final that the seniors aren't playing in unfortunately.

Congrats Mayo. Down were a shambles defensively and at midfield but you can only beat what's in front of you. In that regard Mayo were clinical, professional and ruthless. I hope Moran will be ok both for himself and for his team's fortunes. On TV you could hear the poor guy roaring in pain and the slow motion seemed to make it look like he twisted it.

Delighted for Moysider and all the genuine Mayo supporters on this board. However there is one nasty idividual here who was gloating when Galway hammered us and is after posting two scandalous comments about Ray Silke in relation to Andy Moran's injury. If this board is to mantain any credibility and respect those comments should be immediatley removed and he should be banned. Sick disgusting comments even by his low standards.

I will delete the two comments as there is nothing to be gained from posting them here. Heat of the moment stuff - very frustrated at not being able to go to the game, first game of this importance to Mayo I would have missed in a long time. Sincere apologies for any offence caused to anyone - I was very unhappy with Ray's reaction to the injury, but the comments were nonetheless not appropriate for a public forum. Thanks for picking me up on them Ross Matt. I guess the lesson is, if I have to miss another for whatever reason, to steer clear of internet forums until well after the match. I would certainly not want to be part of anything that causes this board to move towards the level of other internet GAA forums out there. Best of luck to the Ros minors today.

Mayo GAA twitter saying Moran is currently having a scan. No results expected tonight - or not that they'll be announcing publicly anyway.

I suppose if it was a month or less, we'd only have to try and win one game without him, rather than two.

Our much criticised corner forwards deserve praise today. Weakest part of our team we thought, they scored 3-1 between them...

I hear Moran is not supposed to be not as bad as first thought! We'll see.

What a bittersweet win. Great performance, but I can't see us going all the way without Moran. What a disaster.
