Was a red for me on first and second viewing. At best reckless, as intent is unknown. But you'll see some given as red and some yellow depending on the ref.

Quote from: theskull1 on April 15, 2024, 09:46:33 AMDo you want to edit your post to "anyone calling an entire group of people 'freaks' needs to take a look at themselves" so it doesn't look like you're moving the goalposts?  ;)

Was it not fairly obvious he was replying to Armagh18. Who was calling an entire group freaks.

Quote from: Tony Baloney on April 14, 2024, 11:30:28 PMThere was disproportionate emphasis put on the feelings and needs of a tiny percentage of the population due to an even smaller percentage within that cohort being headbanger activists, aided and abetted by Liberal voices, bullying dissenting voices (mostly speaking sense). That imbalance thankfully seems to be being addressed. Trans people should have their rights but they shouldn't come at the cost of others.
Both imbalances need to be addressed. Those happy to label other groups freaks etc should also be shouted down. Hopefully that will continue to be challenged by most people.

To be fair, I think you have to give credit to Captain Obvious. He's been doing sterling work there in the back ground, getting into the players heads over the last few weeks. Was only a matter of time before he got them to crack.

Quote from: bennydorano on April 14, 2024, 07:46:17 AMHas there been a bit of a sea change in general opinion? Seems to be a bit of common sense entering the debates - previously dismissed or shut down debates  imo.
The average person has common sense with these freaks. But they get called out for it so are afraid to say much.
I certainly don't view trans people as freaks. Trans rights shouldn't trump womens' rights tho (& their right to feel safe in women only areas), that seemed to be the road it was hurtling down for a long time. A section of the trans movement appear to not want to assimilate into society either. I don't care if they want to assimilate or not but I don't think society should have to put up with some of their outrageous nonsense either. They should have equality in society, they should also respect others in society.
I think this is the case. Most people would have issues with the some of the proposals put forward by the trans movement. But equally most would refrain from calling them freaks. There's people from both sides on this board and all levels in between.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on April 12, 2024, 09:24:53 AMSalah for whatever reasons is not at the races, that's a fair reflection no?

Could hit a hatful at the weekend. Think Klopp said he didnt think Atalanta were going to be as good? with the title run in he has to rotate, Atalanta not in same position back in Italy so they flogged their players last night. Think they made one change on 88 minutes or something

I'd be an advocate of putting out my strongest team, put the home leg to bed and move on with a lesser tea the next day. Thats probably why I'm not a PL manager  ;D

It's tempting to think that Liverpool COULD turn the tie around, but I'm sure the bookies would give you at least 10/1. Has it ever been done heading away in the second leg?

Still, I think Klopp has to at least try. They're not heading to the Bernebeau like last year. Atalanta were superb, but Liverpool were plainly not ready for what they brought. If they do go there properly prepared and up for it, you never know what could happen if they grab the first goal.

Of course, Liverpool have a habit of NOT grabbing the first goal this season!

Would 0-3 down at half time do you? Vague recollection of a game that went that way...

I see the LGFA aren't putting representatives forward for Feile for the u15 girls part from grade 1. Couldn't organise pitches to get the blitzes run off and this wkend was the last opportunity. Bit of a shambles all round but suppose the excessive bad weather didn't help. Pity for the girls as it can be a great comp!

They're not registered. Think they can't put the gaa logo on stuff.

Quote from: bennydorano on April 10, 2024, 09:03:21 AMTo me Tyrone look like a team with no thought out plans/structure, talent alone gets them through some games, that's why they blow so hot & cold imo. Could take Derry on a hot day and get embarrassed on a bad day whereas Donegal & Armagh will keep it tight v Derry through defensive structures. I'm fed up with Armagh's style of play tho, so I'm not advocating it.
Very true. Having Canavan in the form he's been gives them an edge. If he can maintain that and Donnelly, McCurry, Canavan Jr, Meyler can come back to some sort of form then they've got a chance against most.
I agree my own personal opinion is that they are being hamstrung by the management with a lack of system/ plan.

Quote from: Aaron Boone on April 10, 2024, 06:54:16 AMIt's a tight Championship and always is.

Only 2 of the big 3 of Derry, Donegal and Armagh are going to make the Ulster final.
Not even a good wind up that.

There'll be a kick in Tyrone yet and Cavan will fear no one with the way they played at the weekend.

what exactly have tyrone shown for you to day there will be a kick from them
Experience, Retained D1 status and players returning to fitness?
Bar Derry, I'd still fancy their chances against the rest of Ulster.

General discussion / Re: TV Show recommendations

Finished it last week too. Good show. Looks to have plenty there to run for few more series as seems to have been well received.

Just started love/hate. Didn't watch it at the time and been meaning to get to it. Two episodes in and it's grand. But I'm assuming it will take off shortly given the reviews it had.

Quote from: clonadmad on April 04, 2024, 03:48:39 PMHaving read through the 11 pages of the actual report,it would be handed back to an Economics Undergraduate and He/She would be told to consider another career route

The Authors base their case for starters on an assumption that they know the amount of UK subvention into NI every Year, which is news to anyone versed in these matters as the UK government has never stated an exact total or given an exact breakdown

They then assume that a UI would need to match the current NI contribution to a UK defence Budget,(no thanks Lads,We wont be paying for Trident or Aircraft Carriers)or continue to pay a pro rata portion of UK Debt AFTER NI had left the UK or that the UK would reneage on pension contributions by NI workers paid into the UK pension pot when NI was part of the Uk.

Those 3 areas alone come to anywhere between £5 and £7 bn per annum.

it also assumes that growth rates and productivity are stuck to the floor over the next 20 years, takes no account of the savings or synergy brought about by an All Island Economy and takes no account of inputs from the likes of the EU or FDI going into the 6 counties at 26 counties levels.

This is the type of scrutiny that should be published in the media, but it doesn't make a good headline.
I know for a fact, there are quite a few large multi-national's investing in setting up offices and expanding existing operations in NI as a direct result of Brexit and the finalising of the Windsor agreement. An NI business in Finance/Captial Markets and IT has access to GB and EU markets whilst taking advantage of generally lower salaries and operating costs than in GB and ROI. We're talking high value jobs being created here and the impact of those jobs on the NI economy remain to be seen.
But I don't hear anyone in the media talking about that.

If there wasn't such uncertainty about Stormont, there would be even more FDI in NI. Some businesses are holding off due to the clusterf**k going on up there and the will they, won't they nature of the DUP. If they had managed this correctly and given the impression that NI was open for business in the Uk and Europe there would have been more companies interested. Instead they've f**ked up what should have been a major good news story for NI by making it look like a risk for businesses to commit.

It's only £100 for a couple these days tho.

Congrats on the big day. Great news for the board. Bound to be a mini series in the offing?
