Clifford did wreck for Kerry notching 2-8 (2-5 from play)
First time Clare have made a Munster minor final since 1994 apparently.

The worse a team is the more value they put on the provincial championship.

Interesting point twohands. I posted earlier how Tyrone seem to struggle in the quarterfinals when they win Ulster.
They won it in 2016 and lost to Mayo in the quarterfinal
They won it in 2010 and lost to Dublin in the quarterfinal
They won it in 2009 and beat Kildare in the quarterfinal and lost to Cork in the semi
They won it in 2007 and lost to Meath in the quarterfinal
They won it in 2003 and won the AI for the first time.

Whereas when they went via the back door they seem to do a lot better.
They won it through the qualifiers in 2005 and 2008.
2013 they got to the semi finals and again in 2015 so I'm not sure in Ulster if it benefits you more winning a tough provincial championship.

Cork's football's decline almost hit a new low this evening, just about scraped past Waterford by a point.

Unlucky Waterford, fair play to them for been so competitive when other Div 4 teams wouldn't be.

We won't be reading anything into corks result tonight, ever since the draw was made their focus would've been on tipp game, for them to lose at home to us and 2 years in a row is unthinkable for them. They will be up for our game and I expect them to be a hell of a lot better. Tonight's result perfect for them as it will dampen any expectations

Just when you think Cork have hit rock bottom they drop even further.

Something seriously wrong down there, Cork has more footballers than every other county and they've had plenty of good u21 teams the last decade.

Cork are consistently overrated, their players aren't great really and seem to have a very poor attitude. You can go on about management and county board politics but even with that there is no reason why Cork shouldn't be beating the likes of Waterford comfortably.

The transition from an all Ireland winning team to normality is hard. Cork have been poor for the last 3 seasons.
Even though they have 7 all Irelands they can be very up and down.

Did you think the same about Galway when they only beat Waterford by 1 point in Pearse stadium 4 years ago? Results like that can sometimes kick start underachieving team.

In a way you'd say that the winning of that All-Ireland against Down ended up being more of a curse than a blessing for Cork - they probably had 5 or 6 lads playing last night who you could technically call senior all-Ireland winning medalists.

I heard that Healy tendered his resignation after the end of the league but Frank and the lads didn't accept it.
Tipp to beat them comfortably enough and whoever they are drawn against in their first qualifier game to wave them offstage.
