I'm doing a bit of desk research here and any advice would be appreciated.

I'm looking to find best practice in use of touchscreen technology in visitor centres in Ireland.

If anyone has been to a museum / visitor centre / exhibition where you've been able to interact with screens, iPads or the like, please shout out.

If you've seen better examples abroad, please shout.

The Louvre uses Nintendo DS 3D which was pretty cool...you could see a 3D shot of where you stood using GPS and then select a painting/sculpture to see more info on

Billys Boots

I think the National Gallery in Dublin used to have interactive displays etc. but I can't see anything on the website today.
My hands are stained with thistle milk ...

Rois

I know an AV specialist based in Belfast who installs all this sort of stuff - happy to pass on his name if you need.

Great touchscreen thing on museums in Krakow in the main square, where there is an underground museum.

I designed them in a previous life. What do you want to know?

Just want to have a look at what might be called state of the art in terms of content, UX and responsiveness.

Armaghgeddon

Ulster museum has them, girlfriend worked there.

"State of the art" is pretty ambitious but if you want to go there the best I've seen are these lads: http://obscuradigital.com/.

In reality you cut your coat according to your cloth and needs i.e. technology and software used will depend on the purpose of your project, who is going to be using the product and the environment in which it'll be used. Locally (Belfast) you can find examples all over the place - as mentioned you'll find them in the Ulster museum, W5 at the Odyssey, Titanic building & the new PRONI building, above the art gallery in Cultúrlann and pretty much all of the hotels. As I said it depends on what you want to convey and to whom.

Just back from the Titanic building, really impressed. Spent 2 hours and could have stayed longer. Best exibit center I have see for a while.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea
