I'm no hurling expert, but I quite like Cryil's punditry on the TV.
how accurate he is or what his insight is I'd not be well enough qualified to say, but he sure knows enough to educate me.

Un less i missed it, there's no mention of the clock stopping for injuries or subs so what happens if the ref tells the sideline there'll be 2 mins of extra time and then there is an injury?

Will the ref not signal to the line when the clock is to stop and start?

The game is Professional. Look at what most managers are reputed to be earning.
The only people not getting rewarded are the players and as we all know they wear a sponsored jersey. Free Marketing. Pay all or none.

Everything about intercounty (and some club) gaelic games is professional except the people on the pitch (inludes the referee, linesmen and umpires).
Stadium management, administration, team management, team support services, sponsorship, image rights.........whatever else.

Will intercounty players ever be paid for playing gaelic games.     Yes
It's just a question of how long it takes for it to happen.

The current state of the countrys economy (hahaha)  has probably put a halt to its gallop for now.

Its already happening with the blessing of the GAA "leadership".

How is it?

By leadership you mean Croke park and while I might be cynical I don't see that happening from where I am.

I think this is one useful idea they've come up with!

Next can we try game suspensions rather than weeks?

Who's going to be favourite now?
Or Who is even going to run for it?
It's not going to be an outsider that's for sure!

Anyone care to post the Irish News interview?

Where will he go now?
Looks like the Monaghan well has dried up - where next for him?

Thanks very much ONeill
(I was actually asking about the one where he had a cut off the Monaghan County Chairman ... but that's a great read!)
Thanks

I think it's sad that so many people are willing to run down a true legend of football like Dwyer. To suggest that he's a freeloading mercenary is pure nonsense and downright insulting. You will rarely come across a more sincere and humble individual in the GAA.

The man was minted long before he came to Kildare in 1990. His managerial record has no equal and I doubt it will ever be bettered.

Fair play to him I say

Plenty of begrudgers on here.

As for Monaghan, it's a terrible step backwards if they go for Micko.

Wow ... sad day for Limerick and Mickey Ned.

He certainly owes them nothing, been a great worker for Limerick football, shame he never closed the deal out fully.

There's perhaps a better example of Niall McKenna's leap from last years All Ireland Minor Final here.

Lynchboy - what do you mean in the bit about 'former Mgt'?

would have thought that monaghan co board would have backed mcenaney. The man has brought the level of football up in the intercounty team and this is a kick in the teeth.

I would say the players are behind him, while I dont know all the ins and outs, it does look like banty has mended personality issues that existed in player circles previously (mostly with former mgt).
If Monaghan can get a better man, fair play to them, but I doubt it.
Well done McEnaney for the trojan work and effort put in over the past number of years, and while I wont have always like you or your teams, I have a massive respect because you and your teams are damn good !

Ur right, you don't know the ins and outs

Maybe you could elaborate then?
