Meath 2-09
Laois 0-10

Second Half - 47 Mins Gone

Cillian O'Sullivan With his second goal but it was a sloppy enough score.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Meath 2-10
Laois 0-15

Second Half - 66 Mins Gone

1 point game after being 6 up at one stage. Meath subs not having the same impact as last week. Poor shooting and struggling to win our own kickouts.

Meath 2-10
Laois 0-16

All over. Poor finish for Meath. Laois scored 5 in a row. Not much impact from the subs but we had loads of possession but didn't turn it into scores.

Wonder if this was a different Laois that played the Royals than which played us last Wed?

Carlow were very poor in Longford. In the first half they had the gale force wind but only managed 2 points! WTF!
Not much better in the second half. Again I don't know if this is the Carlow team we'll see in the League.

Longford weren't as good as they were the other night but Carlow did have plenty behind the ball and their defence was alright.

All eyes on Ashbourne on Wed evening. A draw or win for Longford gets us to the final.

We really love the O'Byrne Cup in Longford. It's our Sam Maguire.

The issue with January games is the speed, although not exactly to the same extent in football

https://www.rte.ie/sport/hurling/2023/0106/1345281-timing-is-everything-calendar-sharpens-january-focus/

"In hurling, more so than football, this time of year there is no similarity to what we see in May, June and July. It's all about trying to get your timing right and not to overdo it in these months, in this weather. "The pace of the game in the Munster Senior League is probably 25% of championship, in my opinion. The league would be more like 50-75% depending on the stage of it.
"That extra 25% comes once championship starts and pitches are better, everything is faster. Can guys can adapt to that, not just physically but also mentally, in terms of decision-making, instinct and having the character to do it?"

Longford must have a constant speed across the year

I must admit. Peaking in January is not ideal.

That said, not sure if Declan Nerney ever played for Manning Gaels.....

I'm sure he would have been a marquee player anyway

Shamrock Shore

Stop that now Seafoid!
That's painful.

You'd think they'd be glad of the game to give lads a run that have been training away. Poor form imo.

Shamrock Shore

Agree with you Armagh18.

Both counties should be fined heavily by Leinster Council.

Flourbags claiming they need to get ready for the League. There is no margin with the split season.

Best way to get ready for the league is to play the games that are scheduled for them. No doubt they'll be playing a challenge now instead closer to base?
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
