I remember reading some down posters last year saying they would consolidate their place in division 2 with relative ease and I thought the oul Down cockiness is alive and well. Is there sort of entitlement mentality within down? McCorry and Tally both chased and bringing in James for a second stint at such a late stage reeked of desperation. How many from the All Ireland club champions are on the Down panel now?

It reminds me of the Offaly hurlers a few years ago. They also had the ultimate success in the 90s and were used to life at the top table  but fell on hard times. People find it hard to accept that things are bad but until they do a base to build from can't be found. Down need some sort of a purge and  reboot with a successful underage team.

You don't dip into the Down thread too often I'd say, must of us where saying remaining in Div 2 would be a good league after it took our County Board a month of Sundays to appoint a manager
