It was mental gymnastics of the highest order.

I couldn't make head nor tail of it.

Louth were 100% at fault and Offaly were not far behind.

Last time Crokes won they had Longford's Brian Kavanagh on the team. He transferred from his small club in Longford a few years earlier.

There wasn't a fuss at the time - but he did teach in the area.

So why the fuss now? You either allow it, or you don't. Just because Walsh is higher profile should not be a factor.

That said, while I live just across the bypass from Stillorgan, I dont have any grá for the Crokes.

Mickey Harte having a pop at those who castigated Louth for pulling out of the trip to Wexford.

Well done Longford, Gaelic football World Champions once again.

After the match we all agreed that:

(i) Promotion to Div 2 was assured.
(ii) There was a clear part to the Leinster final.
(iii) While a tilt at Sam may be just be a little beyond us, we would certainly be there-and-there abouts

By the time these were nailed down, the nice polite boys and girls in the white coats were ready for us.

Thanks FermGael. But unless these are emergency works then why was the game fixed for here on a Sat eve in the first place?

2pm throw-in wherever will suit me better than the evening throw-in.

2 p.m throw in on the Saturday in Edenery

Thanks FermGael. Looks like a decent pitch and at least there is a stand. Prob best to bring the thermals all the same.

Rodney

We're playing Louth in the final!!

But with regards Longford you are correct. Paddy Christie has coaxed last year's departees back so really there is nobody of county standard staying away.

I would hope that, come the last few games, we are at the business end of things. Staying in Div 3 at the very least, is vital.

Taylor Swift. I was in Croke Park at a meeting when they were doing sound checks for her last gig there.

I was told by officials there that she sings "live-ish".

I was aghast - but I was told the young wans don't care. They are just there to 'make memories'

I'm old  :(
