Always thought Aslan could have been bigger than they were/are

So did they.

I remember Christy Dignam complaining about it one time in an interview!

Seemed bitter that they never caught on outside of Ireland.

Cry Before Dawn
The Adventures
No Sweat
The Golden Horde

A lot of great stuff on 2FM at that time. I believe the station was mandated to play a certain amount of Irish content, I don't know if that's still true.

I've vague memories of being fairly hammered in the mosh pit at the UCD freshers ball when The Golden Horde were playing. Good times!

Mamas Boys but the death of the drummer big cause of them Stopping early.

Rudi

Jell 0 Biafra

The Real Wild West
That Petrol Emotion (Post Undertones project, really good band)
DC Nien/Tokyo Olympics
A House
Paranoid Visions (although maybe they got as famous as an underground punk band can get)
Not Our World (also had various other names; Fugazi impersonators, but very good at it).

Some band whose name I can't recall who had a song called "You Know I fought a war for you" who were kind of early Beatlesy and tipped for big things.

In the mid 80s, Cactus World News were once talked about as the next U2...

God i used to (and still) hate that term. Especially as I was not fond of U2's music.

Ah, like or loathe Bono but U2 have an incredible back catalogue.

Would add the likes of A-House, The Driven, Rollerskate Skinny, Microdisney, Power of Dreams, Watercress and Whipping Boy to the great list of bands already mentioned. The Stunning were on the verge, moved to London on a big label, the A&R folk tried to change their name and musical direction. The 2 brothers sat it out until they got their music back and returned home. Therapy? are still a big draw in many countries, serious live band.

Didn't Whipping Boy actually make it big?

Loved by many critics yes, but not near as big as they should have. Heartworm is as good a release from any Irish band

Itchy

The strypes
Or maybe they did make it big?

Didn't care for that one at all. Their first one was great though.

Jim Bob

Ghost of an American Airman

Whatever became of them ?
