In Tua Nua. Great group. They deserved more success than they got. Some great footage of them from Self Aid in 1985 on YouTube. Pearl of Dreams in particular is as good a tune as you'd hear anywhere in my opinion

Saw in Croke Park in 1985 supporting U2. Every young lad, myself included, had a crush on Leslie Dowdall. Great band.

Cry Before Dawn
The Adventures
No Sweat
The Golden Horde

A lot of great stuff on 2FM at that time. I believe the station was mandated to play a certain amount of Irish content, I don't know if that's still true.

God i used to (and still) hate that term. Especially as I was not fond of U2's music.

Anyone remember Tiberius Minnows? Time flies.

Django Django. Good band. Lead singer is from Derry, think the others are English. Haven't really had that catchy anthem that's went mainstream, but I think they are doing well enough.

Rudi

Great thread ,some super memories, particularly Cactus News, was looking for that tune for years, couldn't get it so thanks. Agree with Golden Horde & Cry before dawn class acts.
Thought the Stunning should have made it much bigger, Therapy were class, Sheer from Derry with a female vocal were great. A Dublin band had a mighty Tune called Twinkle.

Square Ball

Hospitals are not equipped to treat stupid

Newbridge Exile

Some great bands in this thread, ( saw a few of them back in the Poly Students Union back in the  day) The Fat Lady Sings was another
