Dubnut, as it was stated these are opinion, not based on last years champions but on the best team.  So I was simply stating that Tyrone are the better side, they are in at 2 in the rankings, and that is nothing to do with last years, otherwise on facts they would be around 10/11.  But why put them at 2 and not 1, as on their day they are probably the best.  We've heard it b4 about injuries, and it is a fact.  Tyrone cant be judged on games such as derry/louth/laois when they were missing up to 7/8 starting players from their best side.  They had a poor start the league, but turned it around and had some good wins, notably over a full strength kerry.  As for the Canavan debate, he was/is a great player.  But lots of people are making an issue out of how tyrone will cope without him.  In 2005 he rarely played, he hit 1-1 in the final which was great but I think tyrone showed they can survive without him.  The Ulster finals of that year against armagh, canavan wasnt involved in PLAY, and against urselves.

On performance Tyrone would be down the list due to the obvious situation last year.  But on opinion surely Tyrone should be number 1, they have beat Kerry in their last 2 championship meetings in 03 and 05. and with a fully fit team next year Id be confident they will do it again.  The only other change I would make would be to swicth fermanagh and wexford, irrespective of the championship win they would be a better side, and I dont particularly like them even.  But Derrys ranking as higher than fermanagh is just!

Someone better.  Tyrone have 3 excellent young players coming through, all of whom would be better.  Justin Mc Mahon, Raymond Mulgrew and Gareth Devlin.  Donegal have a gem in Dualtach Molloy, amazing player.  And I have seen Crozier, different type of player than mc gourty, but a player who will adapt to senior alot better than mcgourty.

Good win for St Galls then, but the winners of Coalisland and Crossmaglen will win the whole thing.  As for your boy Mc Gourty, no doubt hes a good player but to say hes the best in Ulster, thats stretching it abit.

Any word on whos taking the team this year?  Anybody know whos being called up into the panel.  About time that the best possible team was put out involving dungannon, carrickmore, strabane and coalisland.  Any ideas? Armagh are now in division 2 of NHL, Tyrone should be there also!

Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling and Football Thread

Your boy cj could be good, give him a year or too. He did well for ur minors this year, but there has been a few more impressive minors around ulster in recent years who havent went straight into senior teams.  As for the older fella, well hes a different story.
I agree that maybe there shud be more st galls players there.  But this mcgourty debate is frustrating.  Yes he maybe shud be on the panel, but to say he wud get on any team in ulster and be many's main man is nonsense.  He has done very little for antrim to suggest differently, and u can hardly read alot into university football. Fair dues, it is good standard, but scoring a few points in a uni match against hung-over players a few years younger than urself doesnt make u great.

Surprised owens got one, played 1 good game, then roasted by Clarke in replay.  Cooper was average for the majority of the year, maybe family issues contributed, but he didnt deserve one.  Be interesting championship next year, with a hungry injury free tyrone back in the frame

Lol, wise up.  McGourty is a decent football player, but he is a mouth and what has he done in the game to warrant slabbering to the irish news week in week out, the fact thats hes a student at his age must contribute to his frequent availability for spouting.  He would not get on the tyrone or armagh teams, and would not get on derry. down or donegals either.  Whats has he done for antrim, Ive never seen him score too much. He was class aginst fermanagh in the championship in 2006 too

declan mc crossan still plays for his club, and is still a great player.  Good athlete and brilliant left foot. Opted out of tyrone panel at start of 2004, got married and built a house.  Hes pretty young yet, dont think he would be older than 26/27
