O'Dempseys looking like bouncing straight back up to Division 1 and Emo doing very well despite being missing Greene, Kirwan and Costello.

What's gone wrong with Ballylinan?
Usually teams get a bounce from winning the intermediate but they were beaten by a junior A team last night. No disrespect to Kilcavan either but Ballylinan seem to be struggling.

Quote from: Junior Ex Laoistalk on April 26, 2024, 10:40:12 PMCan anyone work out how Dublin are as good as they are? The template is there so why aren't other leinster counties copying it and competing with them?
My thoughts on it is that it's mostly down to an almost endless supply of money and a very good County board. The obscene amount of money they were granted by the GAA was used very wisely and they are still reaping the rewards of that investment, money is rolling in from sponsorship and things are only getting better for them. So what do other counties do or is it a lost cause.
Thoughts please.....
I'll play devil's advocate!
I think Dublin have hit on an exceptional seam of footballers.
Yeah, the money and good administration helped but I would say they've had a couple of superb managers and a generational group of players.
Their minor and under 20 record isn't all that and they've never really pushed on to the next level in hurling so I think at some point, they will come back to the field.

One out of five after last night.
Should be a good few changes for first game in T Cup. The likes of Daly, O'Flynn and Rioghan Murphy must be wondering what they have to do to get a run. Looks like Dempsey, possibly Byrne and Larkin will be injury concerns for next game.

Good performance. Could easily have won by 20 points plus if we'd been more accurate with point chances and clinical with goal chances.

Offaly will be a huge step up from any of the Division 4 teams we've played.

Well done to all involved. We seem to have some decent strength in depth with the likes of O'Flynn, Daly, Corbet not even used today and Kirwan and Burke hopefully to return from injury.

Br great if the hurlers could make it a double tomorrow!

Poor enough game. London offered very little in attack and once the first goal broke them open it was a foregone conclusion.
Good to see the starting team mixed up a bit. Of those getting a chance, O'Flynn did very well and Dicey was quite good too.
We look almost certain to go up now but it would be nice to win the league final too. I think Longford might win that dogfight for second.

Quote from: Joeythelips on February 19, 2024, 09:19:10 PMGet promoted, beat Offaly, give the Dubs a reasonable rattle and get to Taitleann cup final seems like goals that are within reach this year.
Think that's spot on. Promotion is a must, would be nice to turn over Offaly, you'd be hoping if we got a shot at Dublin that McNulty would have us better organised than our last couple of meetings and would be nice to go well in Tailteann Cup.
At the moment it's not really clear who'll be the better teams in the Tailteann Cup but you could certainly wind up with teams like Kildare, Cork, Louth, Clare, Westmeath in there who are all very decent (by our standards).

Tough job for Roe though. It looks like he won't have Colm Murphy, Paddy O'Sullivan and Robert Piggot at all.

Haven't actually heard that confirmed about Port. Also, Paddy Dunne is staying on with Clonaslee.

Heard Martin Murphy has moved to B Abbey.
Kevin Doogue back with Graigue.
Portlaoise gone internal again with Aidan Fennelly.
Presume no changes in Ballylinan, Stradbally, Joseph's?

Quote from: GAAFan2003 on December 14, 2023, 09:28:31 AMHow'd the games go v IT Carlow and Limerick this week? What kind of starting 15 did we have out?
Didn't hear hwo the games went but that the team v Carlow IT was more experimental while the team v Limerick was more stacked. Didn't hear the actual line outs.

Anyone able to answer this one?

Guy gets a straight red in a county final in a lower grade - intermediate for example.

Does he serve the one match suspension in this year's provincial championship (a different competition?) or the first round of next year's senior championship?

Junior A final was pretty poor last night. The Harps never raised a gallop and you'd have to wonder about the standard of the teams they beat to reach the final.
Not that Annanough will mind. They were comfortable winners. Should have won by more.
Good to see them win it. They wanted it more. I was talking to a couple of Harps lads after it and the feeling was "it's only football".

Still that annoying "GAA Discussion" and "Hurling Discussion" persists.
As if, somehow, hurling isn't part of the GAA.
Surely it should be "Gaelic football Discussion" and "Hurling Discussion"?
