Quote from: tyrone08 on Today at 09:37:55 AMMcGeeney record as a manager is pretty horrible when setting aside the AI. For 5 years they never won a championship match, have been relegated multiple times, never won an ulster and he was badly found out when he sat and watched Kerry destroy their kick outs without changing anything.

https://www.irishnews.com/gaa/gaelic-football/kieran-mcgeeney-the-career-and-history-of-armaghs-manager-and-all-ireland-winner-EBYTZDBWQRFBJHXSAXKLSPDAWY/

Given Armagh's record in the youth competitions, McGeeney hasn't exactly had an overwhelming amount of talent to work with.  I'd say he's done extremely well developing the talent he has into a consistent contender.

But you dont always need success at underage to be successful at senior. All you need is a couple of players each year to bolster the squad.

Quote from: marty34 on Today at 08:52:29 AMDerry county board and this senior job has become a bit of a drama this past few years.

A circus in fact.

So with that in mind, you'd be banking on a new team already in place and will be announced shortly.

Quote from: Brendan on Today at 08:15:48 AMMight explain the lack of a Championship draw a month out from it

Don't think so, draw was to be at the end of July from weeks ago

Tally did a decent job for the most part (some wobbles).
Aye, he did everything right except win a match.

Not that I'm blaming him. Nor do I think he should be got rid of. But not winning a match in a year is some "wobble".

2 draws,9 defeats in 11 league and championship games under Tally. The two draws against Galway who were eventually taken out by Meath.

And your point is?
A lot more than some wobbles.

McGeeney took, what 6 years to win a championship game. Never got Armagh promoted out of Div 2 in those years, that's wobble central and look what happened ..kneejerk from the CB, man deserved another year

Hearing player driven too. Muppets

You heard nothing,no one would speak to a melter like ye

Fpr the grown men in the thread, be interesting to see who is lined up. I'd definitely have kept Tally on for a 2nd year. But has been said,Tally was arranging his backroom team for next season....

I've no issue with any commentators tbh, be it on BBC,GAA+, rte etc..turn on the game and just watch without giving whoever is calling a particular game a 2nd thought, maybe on my own

Quote from: JoG2 on July 04, 2025, 10:36:40 PMHad tickets for the gig tonight, we spent more on them than we should have, shifted them on at face value once we factored in the total cost of the trip across.
Watched the gig, zero emotions re not being there. In these expensive days, they bogged the arm in no end, greedy hoors. Working class, yes, heroes to many, but definitely not working class heroes these days

(first 2 albums, 10/10 BTW)

Where/how did you watch the gig?

Twitter, there's was around 950k watching it. Video obviously not great but the audio was spot on

Quote from: Tubberman on July 03, 2025, 08:00:06 PMChrist, I find it hard listening to Devenney.
He sounds like he's always after the night before or is actually about 5 pints into the day after.
Talks a lot of scutter.

Jeez you must be the first man I've ever come across with a disliking for Devenny.

I thoroughly enjoy him. Great craic and has a good knowledge of the game.

In response to a comment above on Paddy Andrews. He does have a an awful bad habit of cutting across people but unlike Brolly I think it's a subconscious thing for him.

I like Andrews though good knowledge of the game and good banter with him tommy and james

Devenny is a top man, great craic and knows the game inside out. Has done a couple nights at our club over the years, couldn't get better.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 03, 2025, 06:21:17 PMAre there decent hurling podcasts as the GAA social is definitely miss titled

They've covered and interviewed multiple hurling legends, ladies footballers etc, would the "GAA Social (but we're predominantly a men's football podcast, as we're both northern men and men's county football is by a distance the most watched GAA sport and the sport we mostly cover live)" be a better title? Doesn't trip off the tongue though... Any suggestions? The Contrarian Pucker might be a runner?

Following on from my depressing post last night, weeks have passed since a few politicians in Westminster had the balls to stand up and call out this evil genocide. Two called it out on a Friday, and I remember saying to the wife, as a real tide, or so it felt was finally turning, (outside of public opinion)  I wonder how it'll all be this time next Friday?
Well, that was about 6 or 7 weeks ago, and the story now is Bob Vylan, Kneecap etc... It just shows how powerful these evil fu$kers are and how weak, morally corrupt, self serving and money hungry politicians are
