A taxi and leave the car at home. IF you get somewhere expect to have the arse ripped out of you so might work out the same or cheaper.

Iíve been away a few times this year and no parking was available.

How much money do you actually need? Surely all of these golfers are rich as f**k, very successful at times in their careers. Unless theyíve spent it or lost out on big investments ( tough shit)

How much money do you need in your pension to continue the lifestyle you have accustomed?

If your pension pot was reduced by a significant amount overnight and your earnings potential significantly trends downwards as you get older (unlike the rest of us mostly) due to the limited earning potential of sports person, you'd probably do the same.

Not all golfers are rich as f**k. I see why someone like Richard bland has switched. I'd say as a journey man on the European tour and after expenses his earnings were f**k all relative to the huge stars.

Stenson is an odd one for me as I can see where he's coming from after getting stung big time by Allen Stanford. At this point he probably should have been thinking of winding down the career, hence the ryder cup captaincy. At least he's had the balls to say it is all about the money.

Has anyone made the shift to electric cars and what's your advice on it?

Been thinking about going that way for a while for the wife's car but not sure what to do. Don't see the point in the lexus/toyota type hybrid at the minute but maybe the plug in hybrid type would be better. Couple of family members have the Kia Nero and Sportage and seem to be happy with them.

Don't have the cash for a Tesla but had looked at some of the VW electric cars. Don't know anyone with them though.

Main car been electric for quite a while. Having a the charger at the house is not a necessity in Dublin but in the country it will be a must; sometimes on longer journeys you just need to plan to top up charge (15 mins or so) but you'd be stopping on those anyway at some point for a break. I'd go all in on EV vs Hybrid TBH.

The ID3 is fantastic for the price and makes great sense as a company car as will be BIK exempt (for time being). It's a bit basic on the interior so hard to jump to that from a model s and taycan but it depends on what you need from a 2nd car (SUV for kids etc..). Hyundai EVs are great and you get a hell of a car for the money but might be a bit more than the budget allows.

Good luck on getting an EV though at the moment  ;)

McGinley an odious individual. Can't hide his hate for Rory! Clown
Really? Is there a bad history between them or something? I like Mcginley. Met him once going into a match in Croke Park and he stood for pictures with my kid and was very nice.

Well I play and watch a lot of golf and I'm not the only one who says McGinley is always sniping at Rory!

No, Walter is completely wrong on that one.

Listen to the clown. Always throwing digs at Rory!

That's very surprising as I had always thought the opposite with McGinley often waxing lyrical about Rory in interviews. But I admit that I didn't watch the golf yesterday so I don't know what he was saying about him. Met McGinley with his father once before and he was a gentleman.

Not sure what playing golf has to do with it  ::)

Very slow play and poor coverage with too much focus as usual on Tiger.

I think Rory's round was about 5.5 hours. There are a few shared greens and greens close to tee-boxes but 5.5 hours is ridiculous.

Is Jordan Spieth the slowest?

You have shared fairways too (1st and 18th being an example) but quite a few of the par 4s are drivable with the conditions which means players are standing around until the greens clear or people move aside. The course doesnít allow fast play at this level.

Also with the size of the greens inevitably there are a lot of ridiculously long putts which takes a shit ton of time as well as the bonkers pin positions they had as they were scared of 10 under or lower!

Think Tigers group was over 6 hours but 5.5hrs for Roryís group is shocking given he Morikawa and Xander would normally be fairly fast!

Genuinely who has time to watch this? I certainly don't.
There is a problem in general with slow play on tour but the authorities are reluctant to do anything about it. While LIV might be a load of shite they have recognised that watching 6 hour rounds on TV is a pretty terrible experience with 3783 ads thrown in.

Liv rounds will still take the same as other tours. Kevin Na is not going to magically speed up just because it's a shotgun start  ::)

On the TV, no one has picked up the TV rights for LIV events. Rest assured once that happens, it will be 6 hours of golf only with 3783 ads thrown in. I found it great dipping in and out of this all day yesterday.

Keen to get myself a camper van at some point..

Was looking at renting one for a few days as wife isnít convinced and renting one might change her mind. In fairness Iíll be getting one regardless

The rate (peak time) is around £130 to over £230 a day based on size and comfort..

Expensive enough just to hire never mind buying

I want a boat but herself is not convinced either  :P

We've bareboat chartered quite a few times and actually "worked from home" while in the marinas, so she's coming around to the idea. The plan would be to sail the Med & Adriatic for the spring/summer months but we'd probably kill each other after a few weeks on our own in such a small space  :D

I am an 'incel' (Involuntary celibate aka life long bachelor in Irish terms). You may have heard about people like me from the radical left media, I was actually banned from Reddit Ireland for trying to start a discussion on Irish incels so that shows you how we are treated. Reddit have banned all our forums at this stage.
Anyway, in the worldwide incel forum I occasionally use there are countless "Tinder experiments" when ugly men use a fake photo of a tall handsome man and the way these men get treated is unbearable to watch. These men can get away with anything, they can get away with being racist, being misogynistic, being unemployed, etc and women will still fawn over them. This isn't just in USA, there have been experiments carried out everywhere. I carried out an experiment on Tinder in 2019 with a photo of a chizeled jawed hunk and the matches came rolling in. They were a bit more reserved than the American and English women to be fair but I still managed to find a few wild girls who would have met up with this fake hunk. I don't do experiments any more as is it bad for your mental health seeing what some men's lives are like on easy mode.

For any aging bachelor's I would recommend the MGTOW community (Men going their own way). If you Google it there are a lot of groups for men who have given up on women because of divorce settlements and bad experiences with them cheating. This is an ever growing group around the world. The radical left still hate them but not as much as they hate incels. Incels only get a bad name because there have been a few shootings attached to the community but realistically incels are peaceful. There are very very few incels in prison which sums up my point, we are not the bad guys, the normal people are the ones to watch.

The busted flush running ok today.

Would be good to see some GAA figues and perhaps even the association itself come out and condemn this as a show of solidarity. Will be interesting if RTE or Irish Times cover this, they usually cover up any wrongdoing by the Orange vermin.

I think they donít need to as plenty of condemnation already and only building. By them getting involved officially it will only kick off the whatabouterry and the focus needs to be kept on this utter scum.

Iíd say all the lads in that video are about to get a good dose of cancel kulture.

why not get rid of handicaps altogether?

it encourages people to not improve and doesn't reward players who practice and put in the time and effort to try and win prizes

or should everyone get a prize  ;D

Fair point. Golf is like sex. No matter how bad you are at it, you still enjoy it.

Iíve hated golf this season as Iím playing shite. Havenít played in near 3 weeks now. Will head back out at the weekend for more torture though. Also, Iíd be raging if a 39 handicap won a comp never mind an important one. Heís bound to have been embarrassed winning with that many shots.

Not a chance, he was delighted 🙄

Weíve had incidents in competition where guys have been improving their lies by tramping down rough or playing out of bounds etcÖ. lots of it from new people to golf or at least competitive golf. Lots of the scores coming in should be disqualified but hard to prove. Even had incidents of people playing outside the comp times and getting their mates who are playing as guests to sign the scorecards; or worse again people were playing on their own, submitting their own cards and signing on behalf of their mates.

My other club is an older and established membership with a waiting list. Any new members have to be proposed and seconded, so there is a lot of emphasis on the proposers to ensure the correct behaviour and etiquette. While Iím not a fan of all the pompous snobby shite around the place, there is a lot to be said for how they ensure new members are introduced to the club and informed of what is expected of them.
